Thanks to the most random thing in my entire life, we have... not only a script dumper, but an inserter with an assembly hack pack that essentially gives us an unlimited amount of space to fit a script.

Here

All thanks to the Anonymous Guest!

So with this, is there anything else holding back the ND project?  Besides the focus on ToD2 I mean.

Assembly hacks. Mainly, a variable width font. The menu is complete crap with only 8 characeters per list item and 16 or so characters for description.

If you've downloaded the script before, download it again. The previous dump did not include text that was pointed to in a different manner (most notably, the intro).

Whoa. The script is a LOT larger than I thought it'd be. It has 99234 JP characters. 1070 Kanji, but only 20 of them are unique. I imagine there haven't been any serious takers.

Serious takers?  I'm not sure what you mean by that, but Cyllya and I are working on the script.  It's coming together, although we're not in any hurry since this is the lowest priority project for now.

Yeah, I think it's already like half done. It'll probably stay that way for a while, since even if we handed Cless the script all translated and edited prettily tomorrow, it wouldn't make much difference in the overall timeline of things. Tongue

Cyllya predicts:
--Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will reveal that Ratatosk was involved in ToS's last required scene in Heimdall.
--Tales of Vesperia's plot will involve space aliens in some way

Well, a mostly kana script tends to not be in the lime-light of most translators eyes. I wouldn't even have to explain why, you know already. Also I didn't see any status updates here on the forums so I kind of assumed no one had started on it yet...

Yeah, I can't blame you for those assumptions.  Certainly the kana-intensive script was a bit daunting at first.  Although, I don't know how Cyllya feels, but once I got used to it, it hasn't been TOO bad.  As for status updates, yeah, like we've said, there's really not much happening on this project.  Cyllya and I are working on it at our own pace, but for the most part, we haven't made any 'official' sort of posts about the progress or anything like that.

In some of the newer threads in this subforum, there are a few posts where we talk about it, but there was never really an official announcement about it.  And the project pages on the main site haven't been updated to indicate anything either.  But things are happening, so have no fear.

It's not like I'm fearing or anything. XD If I REALLY want to play the game, I'll play it in JPN with a dictionary in my lap if needed. Though everyday I need the dictionary less and less which is also nice. I was play ToFvol2 with no dictionary and picking up most of everything. There's a really fun duck hunt style shooting game in there called Tales of Sniper. You have to protect Mieu and you can be Cless/Lloyd/Luke (Cless gets Gummies to heal hearts, Lloyd get bottles to revive, and Luke gets hour glasses to slow down time.)

I'll talk more about it in the general forum, getting off topic.

well i'd say this has actually progressed further than everything else since changev translated most of the game already. In the process of piggybacking his work, it just needs some editing. The cutesy lyrical tone of the game is imo already there.
