Lilith is now an optional character, kinda like Suzu in ToP PSX. If I understand correctly she also has an added sidestory over the original version of ToD PS2 (am I wrong? I just noted there were "Lilith's Side" stuff in the images in this version, don't know if they are in the original ToD PS2).
But Leon
still dies AFAIK. No resurrection quest or anything.
I'm not totally sure how the "Leon's Side" thing works though. Seems to be a telling of the story from his perspective. But also there are dolls that can be purchased in the bonus dungeon that you can equip on anyone to become any playable character in the game, including Leon.

No, I meant that using the term Caliber Artes to refer only to one set of artes (either Swordian Artes or Standard Artes) wouldn't work because everyone in the game can use Blast Calibers. Calibers themselves don't seem to depend on a Swordian, so if we were going to use the term Caliber Artes, it would either have to be used for all of the artes in the game or none of them. If that makes sense...
Aaah, gotcha! Yeah. That'd be a bit of a problem then. But then one could evt. say that "Swordian Artes are Caliber Artes that are only possible for a Swordian Master thanks to his/her Swordian."
Oh, just to toss this in here:

Not 100% decided, but I think I currently have Katrea down for Rutee but Philis for Philia. It seemed like Philia's last name was sort of like a pun on herself, that got lost in the localization...
Just for general reference, some of the old ToD PSX promotional material (for the Japanese version) used the following romanizations for the names/terms shown in it:
Lens
Swordians
Swordian Master
Stahn Aerlon
Ruty Kartret
Woodrow Kelvin
Philia Philis
Leum Magnus
Chelsea Tone
Lumina Draconis
Dycroft
Berglandt
Radisrol
The Eye of the Deity(sic)
The interest things to note is that they mention Chelsea, even though she's not a Swordian Master (beginning of mandatory loli trend of modern day marketing?), Stahn being Stahn, Leon being written what looks like "Leum" and Philis being... well, Philis and Chelsea being Tone.
For those who out of curiosity just wants to see this thing:
here
It was included on one of the demo discs for the original Tales of Destiny.
Not saying this is something that should be followed as a guideline or anything, but it's a nice curiosity and probably should be taken into consideration for some of the names (Tone/Torn, Katrea/Kartret, Felice(?)/Philis, etc...). Another curiosity is "Berglandt/Bercrant," 'cause Berglandt basically sounds like a compound word of Berg (Mountain) and Landt (Country/Land/Field)
Also, yeah, Lilith's an optional character, not sure what her "side" is, but I think it was added to the Director's Cut too and Leon's side is like the story narrated from his perspective, I think. (As you normally follow Stahn)
Not sure if Leon's side goes from start to end, or if it only contains a specific set of events, though. Never finished ToDr. Will probably know it way too well, inside out, once this is getting close to the end, though.

For Lilith's Side, it's really useless. She has to go through snowy forest by herself and find some medicine or something. It's easy and it's boring. It really serves no purpose.
Leon's Side is more interesting. It starts right before he subdues the party in Harmentz and ends after his encounter with the party in the underground cave. In Leon's Side, you can access the arena and several later areas after beating the game once. It's interesting, but it isn't a complete story. It is meant to compliment Stahn's Side. I've played it once, but I don't expect to do it again (compared to three full runs of Stahn's without getting bored).

ToD's Japanese stuff seems to be rather inconsistent in terms of official transliteration (in Japan). Funny thing about Radisrol is that it suddenly became Radislowe or something in the remake. At least according to the soundtrack.
That old transliteration for Leon kind of lends some credibility to a possibility of localizing it as Liam.

My goodness, sir, do you have a death wish? I can see it now... The bitter rivals of Team Leon and Team Lion will at last unite in a singular nerdrage the likes of which the internet has never seen. United in their quest to defeat their new enemy - Team Liam! God have mercy on us...

That was the name I was thinking of when I was looking at that thing a few times, but the part after Le really looks like II III, thanks to poor video quality, so I'm kinda guessing UM. But Liam is indeed the name it might've been.

Hey Cless, I actually have been working on translating the Strategy Guide for this game for a couple weeks now (check it out for yourself on Playasia.com, it's for the Director's Cut Version). I scan the pages and painstakingly translate them one by one. Like you, I'm nowhere near finished translating it, but I'll probably have it done long before you guys finish the game patch
Just trying to say, if you want, I can send the completed version to you and you can add it as an optional Adobe Acrobat File to go with the game, or whatever you want.
This is actually something I started for myself, to help me learn Japanese, and because I like getting 100% on my game playthroughs

Your translating a Japanese guide but you don't know Japanese?
Or am I just reading that completely wrong.
Heh, I'm getting more excited about this just looking at the pictures!
Cless, you mentioned that circumstances forced you to make a public announcement of this project, would it happened to have been me?
If so, I do apologise, releasing a suprise patch of the whole translated game along with the first mention of it would have been such an amazing idea.
Sorry.

I'm
learning
Japanese. I do know a few words, and I have the help of my Kanji Dictionary, and several ToD websites if I need to look up some names. I actually think the guides coming along pretty well.
And I am keeping up with my lessons, so as not to get rusty. It ain't an easy language to learn. I'm only doing it so I can import games that don't make it here to the states, and know what the heck they're talking about.

IIRC, I think Cless was just waiting till his Phantasia patch was released, so it didn't look like he was taking on *another* Tales game, in some people's eyes.

Hey I actually have a very 'noob-alert' question if y'all don't mind
.
Is another player able to control another party character in destiny:DC with a second controller?
I couldn't quite make it up from the wikipedia site.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_Destiny_(PS2
)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_Destiny
I mean in principle it says 'multiplayer' in the game-description (of original, orginal ps2 remake and ps2 directr's cut) but it doesn't say anything like: Co-op, or 2-4 players with multitap in battlemode or something (which actuall is specified in other wikipedia-tales-game-descriptions (symphonia, abyss, rebirth I believe)).

IIRC, it is close to being done (just final revisions, bug testing, etc.).

But if I've understood things right, the Disillusion Blast Caliber is tied to a Blast Gauge(?). Thus making "Blast" the keyword, unless you'd read it as "A caliber w/a blast."
Yeah, that's the important point to keep in mind. And iirc aren't there Blast Material and Blast jewels for said Blast Gauge?

Danke, Carn! I love this crap.

Ruty -> Rudy (stretch) -> Rudolph -> Hrothulf (famous wolf)
and Leum -> Liam -> William -> Wilhelm (will + helmet)?
Heh, not wolf and lion?
