This post is rushed, but ask any questions you might have here so that I might get an FAQ going.

Just don't ask "when is it going to be released!?"

How did the idea happen and what lead up to this?

Remember this thread?

throughhim approached me and offered to translate after I posted some of the ripped images. I couldn't well refuse him. If he hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have done much more than continue to rip images from the game.

Haha, I saw that coming. Really. But I thought throughhim would help you finish ToD2. Seems I was only partially right.

Anyway, this... is the best game-related news I could ever wish for this year. I really wish you the BEST of luck with this, and while I'm at it, a happy new year too. Grin

I did drop some hints before that might have made it fairly obvious. Oh well, the cat's finally out of the bag, although ahead of schedule.

OMG What a nice happy new year present; I kinda knew it was coming because you been fooling around with the PSX TOD and TOR would make sense because it come after TOD2 but it better to do TOD because is prequel to TOD2. Also throughhim mention about another project he was going to announce on his website; so I guess this is it I presume

That's sweet news!

I've been meaning to get the Director's Cut anyway and this is more than enough to do so.  Besides, it's not like my saves from the original version of the remake will be obsolete anyway.

This collaboration is very "yes".

And is that the Tales of Symphonia font you've used on circular design in the main menu?

I just registered (don't know why it took so long, though I've been watching all the various work for about two years already... thanks to a friend pointing this site out.) My real question is when's i--*BRICKED*

Ow...

No really, the question I have is that I have ToD PS2, but it's not the director's cut. Would the patch also work with that game as well (only on the Stahn arc obviously), or will this only work on a rip of the DC disc?

It's answered in the front page announcement. Unfortunately, it seems you'll have to get yourself a copy of the DC version:

Quote
It is important to remember that this patch is being created for the Director's Cut re-release only. There's really no point in doing the original since this version already contains everything in it. So, to make things clear, our patch will not work on the original version of the game. It's too much extra work to be worth it.

Aw, oh well... Guess I'll have to start saving up then.

Out of curiousity though, are the old version and the Directors Cut games that much different from each other in which the translation for the Stahn side wouldn't work from the DC to the original? I'm not sure exactly what was added through that disc.

Yeah. That's the only place where it's gonna be used, though. Those menu titles are stored in graphics, so it's just modified images. It's about the only font I liked for this.
