That's a given coolred. I agree with you, but we're talking about the translation of the very beginning of Tales of Destiny Director's Cut for PS2 though. When you get to choose either Stahn or Leon. After you have pressed "New Game".
The tale of Stahn Aileron. It is recommended that those playing for the first time and those that have not played to the end of the original version begin with this game mode.
The tale of Leon Magnus. The beginning of the story follows the events of Stahn's Side, but proceeds to tell the whole story. Knowing the events of the main story give greater meaning to this mode.
(I messed up the second sentence in translation, but I won't bother fixing it here. As discussed, the second sentence should say that it tells "the other side" of Leon's story.)
First of all throughhim, you're awesome! ^^ And as I said previously (in the first post about this), I don't believe this to be final anywhere. Anyways, I won't nitpick this at all anywhere. However, I would like to discuss the possibility. This is both the originals, and as I have understood many people want it to stay "original". I don't blame them or anyone, but in cases such as this about choosing "game mode" when the description in both of them is a tad bit boring I think it would be "Okay" to change it entirely. It is so "frank" and "stiff" and we all know that it is "Leon's Side" or "Stahn's Side" we will be playing. We all know that "Stahn's Side" is recommended.
"The tale of Stahn's Side." <- the only thing I get to know about Stahn (Which I already understand from the title)
"The tale of Leon's Side." <- the only thing I get to know about Leon (Which I already understand from the title)
If...
1, ...it is up to the user...
2, ...it says, when choosing Leon, "Stahn's Side is recommended"...
... is it really necessary to have THREE messages saying "Stahn's Side is recommended"? Isn't Nr 2 enough?
I have played many games (taking Star Ocean 2 as an example) where you get to choose your character and you get an "interesting" explanation about the character you want to play as. "Claude is a 19-year old bla bla bla" or "Rena is an 18-year old bla bla bla" (now this didn't look very interesting :p) etc. etc. now you don't have as much space so you can't do a big biography.
But instead of thinking about "recommended" taking up BOTH the explanations of the game modes ("game modes" bleh, one of the most stiff sentances in the whole description) it could be:
"Stahn's Side, a traveler from Fitzgald that wants to become a soldier in the army."
"Leon's Side, a 16 year old master swordsman of Seinegald."
Just, a short version. And I am sorry Penny, I didn't initially mean it for the new player... but for all of us. Now that we all know what probably will be said there it won't come as a surprise and, honestly, what is said there is pretty boring. Not blaming any of the Phantasian's, cus it's Namco's fault for making it so boring.
And really, only one "Stahn's Side is recommended" is needed. The "audience" are never stupid or non-intellectular. And the majority already knows that Stahn's Side is recommended, making it even FOUR "messages".
EDIT: Even the "The tale of Leon Magnus' Side" could be removed from the beginning of the description, because the audience already understand that is the tale of his story or Stahn's by just looking at the title of "Stahn's Side" or "Leon's Side". The description could begin with
"A master swordsman of Seinegald" or
"A country boy traveling to Seinegald to become a soldier". This is a perfect example of what I am talking about in the "DeJap"-thread. Conservative, following the original to the dot. Original Conservative, expanding the original idea, without messing it up.
In my eyes in this case:
Original = Messed up
Imagine the original description saying "A tale of a swordsman of Seinegald" instead. Then this current version would be the "messed up" version wouldn't it? See it from the "reverse" or "other" perspective/point of view

:p
