I don't suppose you can import your own font?

Okay, here's another one. Some more font size changes in the main menu.

On Sept 24, 2006:

Today:

Aside from minor textual changes, the main difference is the labels for the menu selection and the labels on the side menu. They've all been enlarged. I recall the the stuff on the side menu being fair eyestrain to read on my old SDTV. The menu select labels were enlarged just because there was room.

As a side note, ideally I'd do some fixing in the boxes that contain the character stats. On the element graph, the text is wider than the original text and it sorta spills into places it shouldn't. I know where the data is to rearrange everything in there, but it's a real clusterfudge. Maybe another time.

This font size discovery has sidetracked me. Tomorrow I should go back to organizing...

I've determined that making a patch based directly on the Megahits/PS2 The Best release code is going to be a lot more annoying than I had previously anticipated.

Thanks to the awesome that is the Xdelta patch format, we can simply work around it and transform the Megahits/PS2 The Best version into a patched original release, sans Venus & Braves preview.

Note that as of this time, the Preview option will still be visible from the title menu even though the files won't be on the disc. Selecting it will almost certainly result in a crash.

Megahits/Best patch will be a bit larger than the one for the original. Currently the original version patch is under 240K, while Megahits/Best is 7MB.

Nice work Cless, btw is this the final font that you going to use? or you are just testing and using another font later?

Would this have the unintended effect of restoring the SP glitch from the original?

The font isn't changing unless either

A) An actual VWF is implemented AND the game is reworked to support fonts of a higher resolution. Not likely to be possible for years at the rate PS2 emulation is advancing...

B) Someone can point out a font that will work better and convince me. Not bold = no sale!

Would this have the unintended effect of restoring the SP glitch from the original?

It will restore any glitches or quirks that exist solely in the original release. Patching Megahits/Best literally changes it into the original minus V&B preview files.

Work-arounds to the rescue! Some left/right justification in the status menu!

What a difference. Much easier to process mentally. Can't do it to the equipment names though.

Reala's never-known-until-now last name is "in battle."! ZOMG! In the glitch world, that is.

Reworked the bestiary layout as best as I could.

previously:

now:

Old name insertion is OLD! I have not implemented the changes in the monster name thread yet. And the title of this menu may very well change to Monster Book when all is said and done.

I like how it automatically sorts the list alphabetically.

Is there a way to move the status values on the second column (The one with the values for HP, Level, ...) some space to the left so they aren't too close to the resistance statuses? I think it would look better that way.

Anyway, glad to see progress on this  Grin

I think the status menu layout is fine besides the list of resistances. I would leave away the repeated mention of "Resistance" and instead keep more space to the left and to the right of it. Maybe there's a way you could put "Resistance" as a heading above the list or rename it to something shorter ("Immunity" saves two letters, "Defense" three).

The monster book screens are already pretty much perfect. Great work!

I was half-expecting a "buraaaaaa" thrown into the Barbatos pic, just for kicks.

I would think that "resist" would work just as well as "resistance" (not to mention save space), but I'm sure you have a good reason for choosing what you did.

"barbatos: human"
Is.. he? the game claims so, but everything he stands for.. ouch

Despite him fighting only for the sake of fighting and destruction, it doesn't change the fact that he is biologically a human.

Nice, I can use the Spell Count glitch again.
