Well, I found another enemy name list (the other one I found only affected the name being displayed when you target the enemy). What a pain that was... I spent hours looking for it. I mean, it was a compressed file, embedded within a decompressed file that was originally compressed. I have never seen that before.

At any rate, this list was in the Monster List menu file It should most certainly affect the monster names in that menu. I pray that it will also affect the name being displayed on the screen for the first two seconds of entering a battle, as well.

I coded a program to dump the names and reinsert the translated ones but the resulting translated file doesn't compress as well as the original. There is zero extra space from where the file begins. I could easily fit it if I could move it but at this time I'm not sure how the game accesses it. I just ordered a new video card JUST so that I can run the game in the PCSX2 emulator and get a RAM dump... which will hopefully help me figure things out

I also modified _Bnu's executable/menu file text dumper to get some of the text I couldn't dump before (small crap like the little button help window text) last night. That helps a lot.

This is a very minor question, but are you planning on changing the default button keys? Like, X be confirm/attack like it is in most localized Tales? It's really no big deal at all, I'm just vaguely curious.

Xeroma, if you want, you can at least change the battle controls from the menu so that Attack is X and O is Special.  Mind you, this still doesn't change the Confirm and Cancel setup outside of battle, but if the battles throw you off from Tales to Tales, this is always an option.

(I'm just stating the obvious here, so don't take offense if you already knew this.)

that we don't know

Tales of Phantasia which was released in September '06 in Japan also hasn't been announced to get an North American release. To be frank I believe the game has low chances for an official translation

Phantasia PSP probably won't come out since Nintendo owns publishing rights to the game for GBA, I believe. Destiny 2 is a bit of a toss up in my guessing. On one hand, the PSP user base is small and I think fans of this style of game are more likely GBA/DS owners (portable-wise). On the other hand, the small user base could benefit the game.. or more accurately, the small number of good RPGs; kind of like how Symphonia exploded on the GameCube due to lack of solid RPGs and how the PS2 games employ more niche sales numbers on the RPG-flooded PS2 side.

Publishing rights for the GBA version don't matter. Also, the script for the PSP and GBA versions are different, so the game would need to be retranslated regardless, and thus rights to the GBA English script don't matter. This isn't the same situation as Symphonia, where the game was just ported (not remade) to the PS2, and thus used the same script and files.
