I think I might have a solution to translating the PSP Tales games. Ever heard of Team HGG? The ones responsible for making an English patch for Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G? They made their tool for making thier patch possible with this:

With this you can translate Phantasia, Rebirth and Destiny 2! If this doesn't work I'm sorry but I had to show it to you guys here. This is the only way I could provide help.

I think it would be great if Cless and co. could translate the PSP Tales games, but I think something like that should be shelved for after the current projects. An extra patch, I guess. I believe that the script is the same so they wouldn't have to go through the trouble of re-translating everything after being done with the PS1/PS2 versions (I'm not entirely sure though), so the project would go smoothlier (is that a word?).
Playing Rebirth on my PSP would be awesome, but... well, I think it would be best if they focus on the current projects. Besides, I'm pretty sure hacking and translating a PSP is a little more complicated than that.

I was just posting that to help with current and future projects. But I do agree with what you said. Guess it's up to Cless and co.

I guess that is true and Rebirth is the reason I posted this. It's my favorite Tales game!

The probability of the code being the same is almost zero. So even if the game were hackable, it would take a lot of effort to go and plug all of the text back into it. It would be less work than translating from scratch, yes, but it would be a lot of tedium.

i'm guessing the issue here is that there's relatively little interest in doing the PSP versions, and no one really wants to put in the effort. i would assume that if someone wants to collaborate with PP on, say, ToD2 PSP, wherein they handle the extra PSP hacking required, and PP provides the english translation being used for ToD2 PS2, that would be okay... assuming all the translators and everybody involved give the OK.

Yeah, I mean with the hacking done you could essentially use their script, assuming they would give it to you. But there are things to consider, like how much space is available. Is there more compression? How about menu sizes and such? If it is a DIRECT port, then i would assume most hacking and reinserting would be the same......... but don't get your hopes up. Thats usually isnt the case.

I don't know if it's the same in Destiny 2's case but with Tales of Rebirth the executable file that holds the majority of menu text for each games are laid out a little different.
You couldn't just insert it because it wouldn't come out right. You could visually copy the contents according to where they are in the PSP file but it would take just as long as doing the first one, apart from the fact you know what is going to be in the file.
