I just put an AWESOME new font in the game. It's bolder, and very very readable. I'm going to replace the posted screens with it later today.

As its legality is questionable I won't provide it directly Google for "scph1001.bin" or "scph7502.bin".

Okay, refresh the first page. The difference is MASSIVE. Also replaced the dialogue screen in the other thread with this new font.

Wow that does look a lot better, I was noticing that they looked better today even before I read that you had updated the pictures. I thought the computer I was working on today just had better resolution or something, very smooth and readable.

That's very nice looking. I do think that, on the menu screen only, it looks a little TOO thick, like it's blasting you with white.. but it's certainly an improvement from the previous font. Everything using the half-width font looks flawless though.

Took more screens of other menus with the new font.

Looking good! Although looking from the first screen it looks like the move names are far too wide to fit in the menu boxes. I think it would better off if you left the moves in Romanji so that they don't jump out and look ugly. Or make the font smaller for them.

EDIT: Actually the Romanji might force it out anyway, but it might help.

I thought that I had made it clear that I can't do anything about the overblown font size for techs.... at this point, anyway.

Oh, HELL NO. That doesn't even make sense.. and I'm seeing this vile trend A LOT recently on the damn internet. English words written in katakana should NEVER, EVER be written in romanji unless you are romanizing an entire Japanese text (that includes kanji, hiragana and katakana) and that would only be to maintain consistency. Besides, romanji equivalents of English words on an average tend to be LONGER than their intended English counterparts so they'd be spilling out of the text box even more so.

Yeah I understand that, I was only suggesting that in hopes that moves would fit in the box but realising it now it wouldn't really be any better. And also considering Cless had already answered that well I guess we're all stuck with text stretching out of the menus. >_>

Took more screens of other menus with the new font.

Awesome, awesome AWESOME!

Based on the those screens it looks like you've got everything taken care of except for the kanji-based moves, character titles and monsters names, is that about right? Truly fantastic work. Based on the progress it seems like this one has been a lot easier to work with than Phantasia (but that's only a guess).

Don't worry, I'm not really taking it out on you.. I'm just seeing some stupidity spreading on the internet about words in katakana and it's driving me NUTS. Some ass I was chatting with was INSISTING that the proper roman spelling of Dragon Quest was Doragon Kuesto while every single piece of box art, title screen, book, etc. etc. etc. (Japanese versions at that) have it written in its proper English form. Some people take their Japanophile craze to ridiculous extremes.

Pull a Symphonia. Shorten the words D.Ray, A.Pressure, A.Nova, etc

That's actually not a bad idea if there's no other way around the issue.
