Oh?  Happy Birthday then.  I'm excited about this too.  Now that I finally been able to afford my ps2 mod, I'll be looking forward to the day I can play the game completely in english.  I don't have my mod in yet, so I'm only hoping that this problem of not being able to see much of the background when I try out the patch to make sure I patched it correctly is just because of sucky emulator.  Still, thanks again for all of your hard work, Cless and team!

Theres many alternatives to modding the PS2 itself to get the patched game to run, if you need any help feel free to hit me up on aim or msn or pm me here. I highly recommend playing it on actual hardware, emulator will never be 100% perfect imo, nothing beats playing it on the good old PS2. Haha thanks for the bday wishes. Tongue

Thank you.  Luckily I found a video plugin that fixed my problem.  Still getting my ps2 modded, but I was able to get Judas into my party last night, and there was much girly squeeing to be had. XD

I'm going to pick up a cheap PS2 and had a buddy put a mod chip in so I can play this finished patch on an actual console (same with ToD DC). Once the patches get closer to release I'll import ToD DC and ToD2 so I can have legal copies to burn/make a back up to apply my patch to.

My flip top mod and swap magic should be in any day, but since I don't have any other siblings to fight with I got Judas ALL to myself.

That's the same method I use to play english translations and undubs, great alternative to a chip...just make sure you get the right brand of dvd-r, the lens is very picky about what it likes. Memorex ran like GARBAGE for me, then I switched to verbatim and it played flawlessly.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I will take note of that.  I have 2 Phillips dvd-r's and on the package it has a game controller on the cover, so I'm hoping it means that it's compatible for burnt games, until I can buy more.

Seconding Verbatim. I've been using them for probably five years and I've never had a bad burn. I couldn't get ANYTHING to work with Memorex, so avoid that like the plague. Also, always burn at 4x, at least for games. Data CDs can be burnt at a high speed, but with games you have to take it slow to make sure there's no data corruption or anything like that.

Okay one last question.  Alcohol 120% only let's me burn at the lowest 6x speed.  Imgburn let's me do it at 4x, is Imgburn decent for ps2 games?

Ah, the "slow burn" myth that refuses to die, which I will once again try in vain to defeat. Modern media is designed to be burned at or near the rated speed for the best results, and on drives that properly support it.

I just made a demonstration with some el-cheapo, 16x-rated discs I bought on Black Friday for PS2 game testing purposes, which support 6x, 8x, 12x, and, of course, 16x writes speeds.

6x:

8x:

12x:

16x:

Notice how the number of PI Errors goes down as the speed increases? Yep, that's all you need to know. The PI Failure counts are within the margin of error.

And before someone goes LOL QUALITY SCORE, it's a meaningless, arbitrary statistic.

So I don't have to really worry about writing speeds?  Awesome!  I'm not super technically inclined so I only know what I'm told.  I feel more secure now.  Thank you, Cless.

Well, there are still some variables, like age of the recording drive. Old ones may not properly support newer discs, though I believe that most discs currently circulating have been around for quite a while. Media quality does vary wildly too. The only way you can really tell for sure is by testing things yourself, though.

If anyone wants to be absolutely assured high-quality discs, these are the ones to get:

Taiyo Yuden is professional grade media and manufactured only in Japan. Most all other media is manufactured in other parts of Asia. Verbatim does tend to produce media a cut above average, though, especially in their DataLifePlus line.

Verbatim IS rebranded Yuden's just a little fun fact, been confirmed plenty of times.

So getting Verbatim's from your local store is just like getting the best brand in Japan.

Save yourself the importing cost lol.

And i've been using Alcohol 120% for years,  never had a single problem at all with it, use it if you have it. Smiley
