Even though you may say no...

I think it would be possible to add english voice overs into the ToD2 patch or ToP patch without any problems with money.I'am a member of the Voice Actor Alliance message board and its filled with those whose dreams like myself is to be a voice actor. So they may not be professionals but they have some experience with projects like this. You said yourself Cless that your not doing it for a job.your doing it simply because you want to.Heck I too wanted to make a ToD2 eglish patch but since you are doing a better job and I have no knowledge whats-so-ever on patchers I've given up my ToD2 project.Once again don't worry about paying the people.I'm sure they would do it for the sake of acting.I know I would.Anway thats my idea.
Oh by the way.I actually haven't given up on my ToD2 project but I'm thinking about it.but just in case I don't give up can you tell me a little bit about making patches for games?
(I didn't know wether or not to PM Cless so I just made a topic.)

I second this, I would love to be a voice actor, or just an actor in general when I leave school (I've got one year left ^_^). So I just finished my second last year (Year 11), and in that I graduated Year 12 Theatre Studies course (which is acting in case any body's lost) with B+ to A+ as my grades XD
Anyway enough talking my acting and voice abilities up, basically I'm saying that if a dubbing project ever becomes a reality, then I'd be more than happy to participate, I'd do it for free of course, and I have a lot of time to spare as well so I'd be able to get everything done efficiently.
Perhaps at this current point in time a dub may seem like it wont happen, but maybe after ToD2 has finished being translated to English (menus, story and whatever else there is) then a dubbing project could be the next step, obviously though you would need talented voice actors for it to sound decent but hey, I think if you could find people that are committed enough then it could easily become a reality...
EDIT:
Of course someone would have to be able to translate the battle cries and speech etc... I don't know if anyone is willing to do that though... It seems like a good idea though ^_^
(I've been watching ToD2 battle vids and doing my own voice over the top of Kyles... Well only to the Japanese I understand anyway @_@)
Regardless of anything, if ToD2 dubbing ever comes to see light then I'd be more than happy to be a part of it XD

I dont believe that be that easy. If Namco or Sony listen that, they could get upset and make fuss or something to stop the project. Remember than there are copyrigths.

I personally think it's better to stay with jap. voice acting rather than us. voice
If the text is in english and voices are in jap. it couldn't be better mix
I mean what's wrong with jap. voice acting ..........
I played both Eternia and Destiny 2 and Reid voice was better in jap. that is my opinion not to mention Hi-ougi when the jap. actors are fell the character not like US actors.

Some people get a better understanding if a game 100% english.

As its legality is questionable I won't provide it directly Google for "scph1001.bin" or "scph7502.bin".

Nothing is wrong with Japanese voice acting, but I would like to reiterate Azu's point:

Isn't he just doing a menu patch for this anyway? Granted I'd love to play it in ENG finally, but I just don't think that'll happen at this point, officialy or otherwise...
Still menu patch = better
As for my opinion, Jap vioces are better a solid 85% of the time, not because I'm OMGJAPAN, but simply because most English VA's are horrid at actually
acting
. Credit where it's due...

I guess you missed the news on the front page and on the forum, but ToD2 is a full patch job now.
As far as the topic at hand goes, I'd prefer English text and Japanese audio. No offense, but even most official game dubs aren't to my liking, so I highly doubt that a fan dub would be of spectacular quality. If this fan dub ever did get off the ground, I would still just want to use a version without it included.

Yeah, English would be nice, but even if you took extra care in making the dub, I can't imagine you having the resources to make it sound really good. Besides, I usually like the voice I hear first better, English or Japanese. I see Kyle's and everyone's voice in Japanese as their voice. Just like I see English Lloyd as his voice. The Japanese Lloyd sounds weird to me.

Ah, forgive my ignorance! >_<
Anyway, GREAT news, lol. If I'm entitled to a choice, I would PREFER the original voices in this, even if an English were feesable.

I'll say this. If you cannot speak, read, or understand Japanese, or voice act yourself,...shut up.

An... attack?
So, then, if I can't make videogames, I shouldn't have preference about what I'd rather play? If I can't play guitar I can't have a preference in music?

Still, it's better in my opinion than the grating SCREAMING OVER ACTING that 90% of "anime" is plagued with. I've watched some Japanese movies (Kurosawa!) and the vocal difference is jarring.. it's like they're trying their damnedest to be as physically annoying as possible with their voices in animation and games.

Actually... I'm not sure on this... So correct me if I'm wrong... So long as whoever is providing a dub patch is doing it entirely non-profit and are not providing a download of the game itself then we should have no real problems with copyright... Well as far as I know, again I'm not 100% sure on this so please correct me if I'm wrong
On a more logical note, a dubbing project will probably never happen, I said I would like to be involved in one if one ever arose but we can pretty much be sure that one wont. I agree with the majority of people who like Japanese dubs to English dubs, and I do prefer listening to them rather than English. Having said that I thought it would be awesome to fan-dub a game, hence I expressed interest in doing so. Of course this isn't about just me and some people do actually seriously want to dub this, but I don't think a dub will happen (within Phantasia Productions anyway), unless Cless suddenly decides he wants to. For those who want to dub, it would probably be more successful if you started up your own project, separate to PP and do it there.
In the end I think we can all agree that regardless of voice acting (Japanese or English), a ToD2 with English text will be pwnage!
