Is it possible someone make graphics with the new proportions? >_> Er, not that I'm volunteering or anything... <_< (It's just the humanoid enemies' battle sprites, right?)

If someone could write a program to convert the sprites to an editable format, then I'm sure it would be. ToP sprites would be easier to mess with than ToD2's because they're stored as full frames and not a mess of body parts.

Although most standard enemies probably don't have that many frames, you've still got more complex ones with lots of frames like Dhaos and Lilith... you'd also have to do the cast of the opening battle as well, since they cheaped out there as well.

Oh, and more related to the main topic, because I felt like it. Everyone's favorite ToP move, centerized:

i imagine only scaling the anthropoidea will make the ratios more weird. Ishlant already phails to tower...

I don't know, I think even if the ratios are a little weird, fixing all the humanoids would make it less weird. If Ishlant already seems wrong, fixing the other humans won't make him seem even more wrong, will it?

But fixing things like Ishlant would probably be harder.

It looks like the birds and wolves and stuff I've seen in screenshots are okay.

Dhaos is supposed to be weirdly proportioned, so he can be left, right? Lilith would be hard though. (Or maybe you could fudge her by stealing ND2 sprites and making a few small changes. ^_^)

Carole and Winona should be super easy. ^^b

On second thought, one might be able rig up some new Dhaos sprites by basing them somewhat on Sekundes from ToE or Narikiri sprites. But I really don't like how his hand is raised in those...

I think his hand was raised as Sekundes because he wasn't supposed to want to be recognized or something? Be weird to do that in ToP. I still say he looks fine how he is, or at least as fine as he ever looks.

Sekundes' hand could be fixed, though, couldn't it? I'm not volunteering or anything, or pushing anyone. I just think that Dhaos looks a little Chibi-ish next to the new character sprites you've put in, even though he's still taller.

And here's another idea (although you can all feel free to shoot it down, lol): Would it be possible to exchange some of the current summon spirit sprites for those of the craymels in Eternia? Take Efreet, for example...I think he looked much cooler in Eternia. The one in Phantasia is kinda...dumb. Or would that cause difficulties when Klarth summons? I dunno, but it's just an idea..I think spirits like Undine, who are humanoid, would look better, too, as their proportions would be similar to those of main characters. Of course...I don't remember Luna being in Eternia...I dunno....what do you all think? =P

Back on topic.

Using the width calculation code I created for the centering, I used it to right-justify the green item type text (how ToS does it).

Ordinarily the game uses some ugly centering thing. I initially changed it to be in a fixed position. That was better than centering, but not ideal.

Fixed position:

Right-justified:

Lends a bit more room for item descriptions, which I really like.

Without a doubt, with "Item" being centered properly in the corner, you could certainly say these are truly final release-quality screenshots (barring any possible changes to the item names/descriptions, of course).

EDIT: shifted the base point of the right justification by two more pixels, by "demand."

Anyway, nice work. I'd never have the patience to do all that hacking.

On the subject of Sekundes, it always made me think of him saying "Kids, don't do drugs. If someone offers you them, give 'em the hand!

That's... entirely the point. :D I like it better than "Super Deformed"... even if that might be what most people associate SD with.

Success!

Didn't take more than two hours.

Not centered:

Centered:

Merely had to find the accumulator for map name centering, and practically copy and paste the routine I used for the other centering with minor differences.

Any more centering routines that need fixing? :D

I'm almost shocked of happiness now, just a few days ago I felt the urge to play ToP Smiley
Congratulations to all the team for the work done until now!!

In the news on the front page, you mentioned the elemental icons are still left. I'd love to help with that?, as is the only thing I really see I have time and/or developed enough skills, and I've always wanted to help with this project.

Hey, Cless, I read you were looking for someone to edit the translated script. English majors are overrated. I'm a working, professional writer, been following your project for the whole seven years, and a big fan. I'd be happy to volunteer my services. Just email frogacuda at gmail.

Well, I'd already gotten six offers before you posted, so it's already quite difficult to choose between them.
