Any thoughts on my revised captial 'M' and 'N' styles? I'd really like some closure on this; I've seen too many topics across the Internet die off without any real closure on them... Undecided

EDIT: Just looked at both 'N's scaled down, and the second one is most distinguishable as an 'N'. The other one kinda looks like a fubared 'H'.

I also made a much better 'Q' and more a Chicago-like 'r.' I did make an edit to 'M" on top of yours but I'm not sure it's for the better. Still stewing on 'N.'

YES! Ah, thank you so much for using my edits! I knew my bitchy schoolboy whining would pay off! haha
It really does look like a slim variant of Chicago now. Again, thank you. Grin

EDIT: I just realized--The lowercase "t" does need to be changed. It would need to stay as-is if you were using the same type of Chicago font that Star Ocean 1 uses, but you're using a variation of the one Chrono Trigger uses. See, in the version SO1 uses, the "t" is one pixel shorter than the rest of the letters that touch the top (Capital letters, 'b', 'd', 'h','i', 'j', 'l'). However, if you're using the CT variation, it does touch the top with captial letters and 'b'etc. Just throwing that out there!

Hey there Andwhyisit! This's just the tip of the iceberg. You wouldn't believe all the games I think need font hacks or have hacked the font for.

Hmm... Maybe some comparisons are in order.

As you can see, with the 16x16 font, the lowercase 't' of "Alvanista" hits the red line with the lowercase 'l' and 'i'.

However...

The lowercase 't' of the 8x8, however, does not touch the red line.
This is the last little bit of font-consistency that needs to be taken care of before I would officially call them "polished." Yes, I realize I'm demanding a lot from you, but I'd appreciate it if this last, little, two-pixel change was made.

Better to reduce the 't' by one pixel in the 16x16, looks better that way. The 8x8 't' would look ugly with two pixels on top instead of one and wouldn't fit in with the feel of the rest of the characters. Plus the 16x16 't' looks awkward with the two pixels on top instead of one.

The 16x16 is fine right now. I don't want this to turn into another BoF2 "Face portraits" or "original title screen music" thing. -_-

It seems as though Cless thinks the font is fine as-is, so, I'll stop bringing it up.

Musical Font Portraits? Roll Eyes

Just throwing in my personal opinion. Not fussed 'bout the outcome of the fonts really.

The patch is so close I can smell it.
I'll have to import a copy of ToP soon. Grin

Was there any final decision on whether or not to put certain items that allow multiplayer and different control options earlier in the game? Or is there going to be a hack to make these menu options like they are in later games in the series?

Also given that the new sprites are likely to be part of one of the releases, are there any human character sprites that might need revamping to match the updated style?

I've only made it so that Cless starts the game with a Technical Ring equipped. The other things are not happening for the main release.

EDIT: Quick update on progress

I'm still preparing and inserting all the new script that was translated last month. I took something like several weeks off the project because despite all the progress, I was suffering from some pretty bad burnout.

Technical beta testing is going start soon. This is for making sure the hack doesn't crash mid-game, and helps to weed out any problems with the dialogue box scripting. I'm almost done inserting the unedited script (just a few files left). Once it's fully inserted, the game should be completely playable from start to finish without any worries of crashing.

Nusakan reported that editing is going well.

A couple minor ASM kinks that weren't noticed up until recently are being worked on.

What I end up doing in the near future is still up in the air cause of the games that are out or coming out. I also really want to at least play Vesperia before stuff gets finalized in ToP.

I just got so excited about all these new features I thought I would throw some ideas out there haha. The hacking you are doing now with this game is amazing.

Always good to get an update though, thanks Cless.

Cless, do you need any beta testers, if so I'd be happy to.

lol, aren't we all? haha

BTW, so given the posts above, are there going to be the PSP sprites in the main release?  I don't really mind either way (not like it improves gameplay or anything), but I'm curious.

So, yay. As of a couple hours ago, the main dialogue script is finally 100% inserted into the game. It's still the unedited version, but having it prepped for insertion makes adding edits trivial.

We still have a long ways to go as far as inserting the skit script though, it's only inserted up until getting Sylph. I'm currently debating on whether to prepare all the skit scripts with the rough translation now or just wait until it's edited. I want to play Vesperia...

No.

Vesperia does look good. You can always put in the scripts piece by piece right, no need to do it in one huge chunk and have it take over your free time. Here I have a good compromise, every time one of your characters dies in battle, you have to insert the rough draft of one entire skit. No just doing the easy short skits first either, you have to insert them chronologically. Okay so that probably wont work.

Hey, you've waited a long time for Vesperia, it's your right to have fun with the game, I say.  I don't have a 360, so I'm just chilling with Abyss right now.
