Whew, it's finally up. Took a lot of time to put together. A big chunk of it is a recap of stuff posted here since the last update, but all the screens are new and reflective of all the hard work I put into the recent cosmetic hacks.

Guess you guys can use this thread for any reactions to it.

I also suppose you who follow the forum stuff wonder what happened to the Load option I announced that I had added in previous forum news updates. You'll have to forgive us, be we axed it.  Unfortunately, it was buggy as hell and I'd hoped we'd be able to fix it, but it looks like it's going to be more trouble than it's worth to get working properly. Better to spend the time getting more important things finished.

If you'd really like to reload a saved game without a hard reset, there's a simple button combo that soft-resets the game back to the title screen. L1+L2+R1+R2+Start+Select. It's takes just a few extra seconds...

All I can say is that I am very great full with all the hard work you and  your team put during the years. The project is about to finish and then you guys have to work on TOD2 ^_^ and hopefully rebirth etc. I know I shouldn't be asking you about ND1 because I know it piss you off  Wink but how the project coming along and when you finish will you work on ND2 and 3.  Dunno what happen to  Kajitani-Eizan and his project?

It's really nice to see the project come this far and getting so much closer to completion.  I've actually kept myself from thinking of doing a playthrough of this game until the translation is complete.

Guess the only thing I have to worry about now is testing how I burn PS1 backups to get them to consistently boot up on my modded PS2.  Though I still have my modded PS1, I rather only pull that out as a last resort.

Update looks so incredibly awesome that it still takes me aback despite having seen the majority of the screenshots already, which is a good thing.

Can you see it now?

Well, I thought this would be kind of fun. Let's look at the first screens and compare them with the new final/near final screens.

The very first screens, revisisted!

Then:

Now:

The main menu.

Then:

Now:

Status:

Then:

Now:

Some food:

Then:

Now:

Key Items:

Then:

Now:

And finally, Custom.

Then:

Now:

Man, what the crap was I thinking when I decided to ascii-align the font, breaking the numbers.

Wow!! That's such an amazing improvement, it has a lot more style now.
What a huge update, seeing it all together makes you apreciate the real dimension of the work made.

Very nice work. I don't have much to say, but I'm very impressed with the developments over the last few months. Definitely the best looking and most ambitious PSX translation ever. Be sure to add a Paypal link to your site when the patch is done so that generous folk can send 'charitable' donations should they want to. Keep up the good to work, and thanks to all involved in the project.

Wow, I can't believe I missed the update about the skits on the forum (that's what I get for lurking)! YAY! We'll be able to read them! :3 Now I don't have to make my friend translate as I play. ^^

Well done, Cless (and everyone else affiliated with the project past and present--rather long list, eh?)--Seriously, I've followed this project since like, what? 2003? It's hard to believe how long it's been. :3

I bought TOP when I was over in Japan specifically in anticipation of the completion of the patch. ^^ I can't wait to finally get to play it (and be able to understand what's going on better LOL) ...'course, I also should probably get around to modding my PSX... It's Japanese, so hopefully that won't make a difference. XD

And I must say, comparing those old screens--WOW. The stuff you have now is good enough to pass as official! This'll trump Brawl for me if it comes out at the same time! (hell, it'd trump the new TOS too.)

...of course, it's starting to look like my luck might be setting up kind of weird. If the M3 translation finishes at the same time too... Oh god, what will I play first?! XD Which fandom is more rabid? Tales or Earthbound? XD

Tho I have a feeling you'll be finished first--the news over here is a lot more optimistic than M3's--"Don't expect it before Brawl" sadness.

Guys, didn't Cless say that the patch won't work on a real psx yet?

Better than official, I'd say.

Entirely possible. I recently saw a TV review of a brand-new Dynasty Warriors game, and they showed you just how terrible the translation was. Nevermind poorly-translated dialogue and bad voice acting (which it also had), they showed one point where the dialogue in a text box not only spilled out of the box, but went off the bottom of the screen! Understandably, they gave it 1/5, the lowest possible rating. Stuff like that is just an insult to paying customers.
