Well, I think I'm pretty much done polishing up that file, *finally*. Although I'd like to playtest the changes before I move on, which I'll do tomorrow.

For some reason, I've been seemingly incapable of getting a desirable amount of sleep for months. Seems like I get maybe 5.5-6.5 hours of actual sleep each night no matter what I do, and it's not doing me any favors. Getting sleep apnea treated was one thing, but it seems like any benefits have been erased by this.

Oh, and it's been a while since I posted any screenshots. So here's a little teaser:

Knowing what precisely we have preceding that line fills me with such glee. Cheesy

I really hope your sleeping problems can be brought into line again, soon.

And I think the last pun giving us trouble in the main script is finally dealt with.

The list of lingering issues gets smaller even before I get to the formal step of working them out.

Ooh, a productive evening! 51/61 files done -> 54/61 files done of this review now. Well, that's mainly because there wasn't much in these files still demanding of attention as in the previous file.

Although up next is the largest, most monstrous script file in the game. I always dread opening it, and worse, it's always demanding of extra attention. May be stuck on it for a day or two, but that could be me being pessimistic..and I hope that's the case.

The file in question also contains the pebble-picking mini-game stuff. I want to give it a localized name, but have no good ideas. Have a placeholder title for it, but I hate it. GBA version just left it as Ishitori. Meh.

I always liked Ishitori as the name. Gave it a very foreign name

The problem is that there's nothing remotely foreign about it. But the literal translation is no better, so this needs a little thinking outside the box.

What is the literal translation?

"Rock Picking"

Anyways, I finally came up with an English name that doesn't make my stomach churn.

Completed processing the mega file of Sirius9's work, but found quite a few things I want to have another round at polishing since I'm not happy with the majority of my old draft 3-era edits anymore. That'll be tomorrow's duty...

Looks like Cless is working hard on this, once again again props to you Cless. Wish I could donate money just for your time but alas I don't have a credit card lol. Well any way nice to see this project progressing along. Just don't push your self too hard Cless. It's not healthy to not get enough sleep, not that I'm one to talk lol.

Well, I'd say I'm just attempting to be a little more open about what's going on "behind the scenes." In some ways, though, it's actually being a bit of a motivational force.

I approve! Makes me fill less dirty for every now and then posting about stuff I'm not really sure whether or not I should be posting about (maybe I'm just being too strict) haha

Not the most productive day. I got about halfway through this mega file, revising a dozen or so lines, and was then horribly sidetracked. Then I posted a little note on the front page.

After you finish ToP maybe you should do a bit of updating to the home page?

Haha I've been following this project for a while, but I actually made an account because I think I may actually be able to contribute something to the project, particularly pertaining to the translation of 'Ishitori.'

In the field of game theory, the game of 'Ishitori' is commonly used as an example to highlight the idea of a dominant strategy, and is a variation on what is formally known as the game of Nim. Not quite as exotic sounding as Ishitori but if you're looking for the formal name of this type of mathematical game, thats it.  Hope this is helpful!

^ I like posts (and posters) like this. It's much appreciated. Smiley

Though, I think Cless was already aware of the Nim name (I think there were even a few nim-based names thrown into the name suggestion - stuff like nimble and nimoroi, iirc.)

If it weren't for the insane randomness of some of it all, I think it'd be kinda cool if some of the logs from various "brainstorming sessions" could be posted every now and then. Just to see how much stuff gets thrown out there before a decision gets made (and how some stuff just comes back from the grave, long after I'm sure even Cless thought it was "sealed/done/complete/finito haha)

Mystery Edit Theater 3000

Ditto the thanks for helpful posting.  Smiley

The name of the game being used during my edits was actually a pun based around the "Nim" name that I kinda liked.  Cless hated it though. :p

I've also thought that would be kind of neat.  Joining this project has given me some fascinating insight into the localization process....and a lot more sympathy for some translations that had me thinking "Now why the hell did they do that?".  The downside is that now I can no longer play any game or watch anime without editing the dialogue in my head.

Separating the interesting bits from the Mystery Edit Theater snark and randomness would be time consuming though.
