The bastard skit that was giving us trouble has been tamed, and is now subtitled in-game. It had to go through some scripting mods to subtitle it to the spoken words, which might upset some ultra purists. What happened (skit spoiler):

Skit 44: Klarth summons Efreet to warm up. Midway through the skit, there's a screen whiteout that lasts awhile. Just before the whiteout occurs, Klarth summons Undine to cool off because it's too hot. In the middle of the whiteout, another line is spoken by Cless where he jumps because of how cold it now is. The whiteout function in the game affects screen text too, so this line simply couldn't be visibly subtitled at the proper timing. To compensate, we shortened the whiteout to a point just before Cless' line starts playing, set his expression to the surprised one, and added some face move commands to simulate a shivering-type motion. It then plays as normal from there.

File size-wise, this skit is the largest one in the game, and the game was coded to only support an event script of its size, maximum. Add one command more and it'd freeze the game at some point in the skit. The fix, of course, makes it so that the game can support a larger event script.

So yeah. That concludes the major technical hacking. The other non-essential enhancements are still in the pipeline and hopefully will be added by the time the release is ready. When I deem that the text is fully polished into a worthy state (which will not happen overnight, so continue to keep your shirt on), beta testing will begin.

This absolutely will be released this year, or I'm done with the scene.

EDIT: Hah. Almost on the dot...shy of just one day, I announced that the ASM hacking was finished a year ago.
