These have been under wraps for awhile, and today I shall reveal them to you! Screens first, explanations later:

1) Arte name selector
You may recognize such a feature from Absolute Zero's project. A few months ago, I decided to have a go at implementing this into our project as well. I seamlessly added the selector to the Customize menu, so you can easily toggle a different mode at any time while playing.

Localized mode follows Namco's official naming convention with a few changes at our discretion.

Transliterated mode romanizes all non-spell artes and translates spell names literally.

Cultural is a special mode that becomes available when Suzu joins the party. It is the same thing as Localized, EXCEPT that it romanizes Suzu's artes only. If you feel your ninja seem more authentic with their skill names untranslated, then this is the thing for you.

Setting saves to your memory card. Localized is the default. These also affect Meiku Zanshoken/Hades Divide (aka Dark Blade) and Lilith's artes.

2) Battle subtitles
A fun little feature that translates every non-grunt, non-scream voice clip in battle. The clips aren't translated yet (aside from the "We did it!"), so they're using the sound test voice list as a placeholder insertion.

One thing that bothers me about undubbed translations is that you never have a damn clue what they're saying in battles. This is the fix for that.

On top of that, I realized that this feature could get annoying or intrusive after awhile, so we have even added another option to the Customize menu to disable them if you so desire.

Small bug if importing a Japanese save: This will default to the OFF setting. Starting a new game from the patched game will default to ON, though.

3) Cooking dialogue subtitles
A small feature that translates the eight or so voice clips that are spoken by the characters whenever you cook.

With that, every meaningful voice clip in the game should be translated.

I don't remember that world map 3D overlay option. I also don't remember there being three menu character display options. Is it just me? Or is my memory failing me?

Something caught my attention while I was reading today's site update.

On Cless and Mint's Arte Menu screenshots, the artes in the lists are all either transliterated or localized, right. But the arte name right above the description box is either localized when it should be transliterated, or vice versa (on the second screen it's Majin Senretsuha when it should be Demonic Sword Rain, for example).

Did you notice it, Cless? If you did, have you fixed it yet? Or is it just on these screenshots?

i think that's the idea. you get the "alternate" name for the move as well, no matter what mode you're in.

That's pretty cool if you put it that way, but I can't help but think it looks a bit unprofessional. Most people will probably look at it and think "lol, they forgot to change it".

Yeah. And I think it goes well with the TP on the right side. It just creates an aesthetic that looks better to me than leaving the left corner blank.

I agree that the left corner should not be left blank, but it does seem a bit confusing to have both the transliterated and localized names on the same screen. Plus, as Kevassa points out, the appropriate name doesn't even appear in the description box. I like his suggestion of putting the respective name in its own definition. Of course, its' your project, Cless...so you can do whatever you want  Grin

I think you guys are missing the point. It's supposed to be just a little reference to the inverse name, if it's different.

Hmm, I see. And to be honest, I didn't even know that space was originally blank ._.

No, I got the point. I just think it's a bit confusing. Like I said, though, it's your project, not mine.  Grin

It wasn't blank in the first place. In the Japanese version, any of the artes that were originally in kanji had furigana above them. The reason Cless mentioned leaving it blank was that the concept of furigana doesn't exist in English since English words are phonetic for the most part already, thus the only other option than what he is currently doing is to leave the original furigana space blank.

I like that touch of having both names on the ability menu, nice touch imo. Makes it so that if you're playing on the romanized version you can still see what the localized equivalent of the name is while you're setting up your abilities.

Likewise, if you already knew the romanized names and you're playing the localized version, you can actually compare to see what skill you're equipping.

Great work Cless Cheesy
