Where were you when the 9/11 attacks happened?

This thread is to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the terrorist incident of September 11, 2001. I was at my parents' home when the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center collapsed on September 11, 2001, which has been America's darkest day. I was then nearing the age of 22. I woke up just before the North Tower was hit.

Aren't enough forums already doing this, as well as all of the media? Do we really need another reminder of it here?

I'll just copy what someone on another forum said:
"I look forward to the day when 9/11 is never mentioned on an anniversary again. That is when we truely have moved on. We did from Pearl Harbor. And I know those who have been lost would have wanted us to move on and cheerish life. I believe we will, but of course we won't forget. "

What usually happens is that when people forget, things happen again. Its usually a pretty good idea not to forget. At the US Merchant Marine Academy we covered the main grounds with the names of the people that died, lit candles and put around 6000 flags up. Pretty cool

I was at home. I forget if it was a school day or not. I'll assume it was for the purposes of my story. I was about to go to school and I had the TV on while I was getting ready and when I turned it on, I saw the towers smoking. At first I was like, "what's happening?" Then I went to school and everyone was talking about it. It was saddening, but my mind tends not to dwell on things too long. I don't know any of the people who died that day, so it didn't effect me as much as people who did know anyone that died. I still felt bad for the people who were lost.

Don't worry, the world doesn't give a damn about us "third worlders"... That's why we rule
We are never going to have a terrorist attack of that kind or something like that

...does anyone else find this offensive? I'm not really nationalistic, but... saying Osama Bin Laden rules as long as he doesn't attack another country.. what, he should be proud for killing 3,000 people just because it was on American soil? There were people other than just Americans in those towers, let's not forget. If I've misinterpreted what you said in any way, I apologize. Otherwise, that's kinda low. *sigh*

Yeah, seriously. I guess Hitler also ruled? We don't need shit like this around here, if that was the intended effect.

You can't say that 11S nor Afghanistan and Irak wars are good... The thing is just messed up. In fact, it's too complicated. You can't have this kind of guys running around the world blowing thing in the name of a religion I'm quite sure they don't really understand, but making a war against someone just because they have a different way of life (we could make a war on the US because they export lots of unhealthy food, to give a stupid example).
I don't like Osama Bin Laden threatening people around, I don't like Bush declaring war. I really don't like that fixation of the US government of going to war where no one called them... I have an uncle who fought in Vietnam, when he came back, he was shocked and he only told two people (my grandfather, and when he got marred, his wife) about what he saw and lived there. I don't want anyone to suffer for stupid fights... That is one of the reasons I'm totally against war.
Going back to the theme of the topic, I was on school, something aroud 11 or 12 a classmate came in and said "The Twin Towers are burning", and told us about the planes... It took me a moment to realize the thing, and three or four moments more to reall belive it...
