ok i need help i currently have a very crappy Dell Inspiron  530S it came with an Intel  Celeron 1.6 ghz processor 1 gig of ram and no GPU  just a basic on board chipset

So far i been working trying to get it into a low budget low end gaming pc the problem is that its a Slim tower pc so getting the right parts isnt exactly easy.

i figured out the ram it needs and upgraded that already

i figured out the best low profile card either an Ati 4550 or an Ati 5450 im going with the 4550 cuz its slightly better for gaming.

now i need to upgrade the processor i have no clue if the one i want is compatible though can someone out there give me some advice on upgrading this amazing pile of poop heres the processor i want http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116091

i know this is a crappy pc for gaming but its only to hold me over til i get my financial aid for college (ill have $2000 spending money for a gaming rig)

That is a pretty shoddy computer, but people seem to upgrade that model a lot.  I didn't look at what processor you linked (newegg page was unavailable), but the trouble is going to be identifying your motherboard.

So information we need...

- your motherboard
If you can't tell us that, what may help is if you know the processor model (like t1600), Celeron's were made for a long time. Also, when did you buy this computer (if you can find the manufacture date that works too)

If that's all too much work or whatever, iirc, dell has a system in place on their website that allows you to enter in a service tag and view a list of possible upgrades. Don't buy it from them, obviously, they'll charge exorbitant amounts. But once that tells you which processor you can use, you can make your way over to amazon or newegg and buy it. Also, don't forget thermal paste.

Another thing: your motherboard has to support discrete graphics in order for you to install a GPU.
