In a few weeks Sony is going to introduce another version of the slim ps2
(in which territory? Article didn't mention it but probably Japan + NA first)

Translated from French Website :

At the moment the slim ps2 is weighing 900g --> it will be reduced to 600g
the "power supply" is weighing 350g ---> it will be reduced to 250g

I just wonder if they will change the look of the console

Hopefully cutting the pricetag to 99$/€ would make it a very very appealing console for those that haven't got one yet, maybe Sony is planning to do it in the near future? But well... does 99$ look "too" cheap?

And I'm waiting for a slim Ps3 before I buy one^^ I find the console way too bulky as it is now
How long do you think will we have to wait before seeing such a model? 2010 ? By then some decent games will be available

thats pretty old news o.o its been out here for awhile.

It looks just the same, they just removed a few of the hardware peices originally in it, cutting down on production costs and shaved down the thickness of the shell.

its basically the same, but less long-lasting.

EDIT"
incase it wasnt clear enough, no, it isnt any smaller. Not at all.

I wouldn't expect it to be smaller. The model 10000, 30000, and 50000 series were all the same external dimensions, but the 10000 was the heaviest line, and the 50000 was the lightest line. I've had at least one console from each series. The noise of running a PS2 game on CD was also reduced from one series to the next.

so pretty much the usual hardware "upgrade" routine I guess...

are the latest revisions still very hot after 1-2h of playing? I remember having one v13 ps2 that always got extremly hot

edit : IGN also posted the article HERE

hot? o.o they would only get up to about 90-100.

Electronics can get an ECU temp of around 300-400 before they fry, I know this from running electric RC`s and shit, 4 lipo batteries and a 15DM brushless motor, Comes back after going full throttle about 70mph for 4 minutes, it would read around the 320º marker and was just fine.

So dont worry about temp`s with your PS2 unles its like 95 in your room.

And auctially no, The new PS2`s arent a hardware upgrade at all. They auctially removed some of the hardware.
