They both should work quite nicely. As long as you don't get those shitty intercoolers like the ones from Nyko that plug into your consoles power. They can ***** them up hardcore. My friend's ps2slim overheats as well and he uses a usb fan (looks sort of like the first one you showed) and as far as i've heard, it works great.

I always recommended those USB fans for the fat PS2s. Not really for the cooling, but to act as an extra filter for dust. PS2s have a terrible internal design. The disc read error problem seemed to be intentionally manufactured.

I just cleaned my fat ps2s air vents out with a paint brush every now and then. I bought it in 2002, gave it to my brother last year, and it still works great.
