I don't know how old many of you are, and I don't know if a lot of you are old enough to vote (I know I am, that's why I am making this topic) but I was just wondering what you guys think about our new President elect? Do you think we are ready for a black president? What do you think about his beliefs, views and ideas? Do you think he can fix this country, and fix this poor image that many countries view the United States in?

If you don't have any opinion, or don't care about Politics I feel very sorry for you. Or if you have that, "I don't care about the USA, it's a slob infested bullshit country and I'm just going to move to *insert country here* when I get the chance anyway" then I also feel sorry for you. I'm not very proud of my country, and sometimes I lose all faith in this sad excuse for a "world power". But if there are only two types of people in this country, the people who think there is nothing wrong, and we're fine the way we are (bullshit) and people who just don't care, then we are in big trouble. Something needs to be done about the problems we face, and people who want to make a difference and change the way things are need to raise their voice and stand up and do something about these problems.

That is why I was, am, and always will be 110% for Barack Obama. He stands for everything I believe in. And I believe he's what this country needs.

Discuss.

Im not from USA (Im argentinian) so I may have no place on this discussion, but one thing, everyone is ready for a change, even if they arent they have to get used to it.
Its not like hes an alien, hes just a different skin color... I dont know why people make so much hassle about it, really.
Isnt making that hassle the same as making a difference?

Everyone has a place in the discussion. Especially if you are from another country. I want to know how people around the world view Obama.
I would also like to know what people around the world think of the people who ran against Obama. And maybe even your opinions on our current President.

And the people who got worked up in a negative way because of...

A) Obama's skin color were simply your run of the mill racists.

B) his ethnicity and background were also racists but on a whole new level of ignorance.

His father being a Muslim from Kenya, and how that somehow had to do with him being a "terrorist" or of Arabic descent, (Which there is NOTHING wrong with, but he's not even Arabic; His father is from Africa) and for people to even assume that even if he was of Arabic descent, that he was a terrorist, is sheer ignorance. Also for people too assume that all Muslims are of Arabic descent is a pretty stupid thing to assume also. (One is a religion and the other is an ethnicity.)
Just like people who are antisemitic aren't racist against Jewish people. Because Jewish people aren't an ethnicity.
It's a religion.

But as much as people got worked up. As much ignorance spewed from the mouths of the uneducated, Barack Obama was still elected as President.

Which is awesome. But it's also scary. With that many idiots out there, whose to say that some sick, ignorant PoS won't try anything stupid.

I never put the rule back up when we switched to this forum, but political (and though this isn't, religious) threads are a big no-no here. The ones we've had before the rule was enforced only quickly erupted into nasty flamewars. So, sorry, as much as I'm for Obama myself, I've gotta lock this.
