I got a premodded system myself eventually to play a few import games I was really wanting. Afterwards though, i have to admit I do 'test out' a lot of games these days. It's actually saved me from spending money on crap and actually gotten me to buy a few games I would never have considered, so I don;t think anyone's losing out (except me and my wallet)
BTW, to stay on topic, do we have an ETA for this game yet?

I hear the English and Japanese releases are both close to each other, and the Japanese release is supposedly May 15.

I'm not really one to comment on box art but that does look pretty good.
I really hope this game does get a PAL release =(

The game is dated! May 22nd! Japanese AND English audio tracks! I can't think of much else to say, but it's all looking like great news to me. Can't wait to buy this!

Since we all clearly need more reasons to want this game, Kotaku brings you more screenshots.

Supposedly this is getting a 10/10 scored review in the next issue of Play magazine.
Still remains to be seen what more mainstream mags are going to give it. Wonder what moneyhat shovelware is going to be reviewed better in them.

Play magazine is pretty crappy though, so I wouldn't listen to them. They gave Sonic 360 a 9.5 afterall... :/

Man, I swear I'm going to end up buying two copies of this game. And I normally only do that for those Tales games we manage to get (except in the case of Symphonia, where I bought 3).
This needs every sale it can get. Although I'm not really biased toward either dimensional style, the industry needs a console 2D revival. It's annoying that it's been so totally biased to 3D in the last decade, it would be nice to see the two styles living in harmony, and not just "handheld = 2D" (sadly, there are those who believe 2D should be exclusively handheld).
In an industry where development costs are skyrocketing, and sales are
falling
(is it really marketing, or oversaturation?), I think a 2D revival could be the savior of the industry, with the fact that 2D games are generally much less costly to make.
Odin Sphere demonstrates a technique on how to make high detailed, fluidly animated 2D at a low cost. It'd be fantastic if it inspired other developers.

It is a mystery for me why many many rpg games lately are all of 3D it is rather lame cuz all old school rpg games are better for me in 2D world then 3D for example TOL would be much better in 2D rather then 3D I'm sure of this but then again , They will not translate it to US version eh. There was more examples for this like Breath of Fire 4 and BofF5 when capcom take 2 steps behind form number 4
and 4 was such great game and got great sprites char much better than 3D cell shaded char. in 5
I only HOPE that after Odin Sphere most of the big company will do as all a favor and make old school 2D rpg witch good story game play and so...... but after all it depends on players all around the world and that part of the world more likely choose a 3D games than 2D games och well

I've had this game on preorder for a while too. I know with this and two other games,I'm going to busy with RPGs this month.
This is just my personal opinon, but I like Play magazine more.I like how they state their opinions or comments,as to why they like it,and point out the really bad things in a game.Instead of just saying,"Oh yes this game is great,it's so wonderful you should buy it!"....but instead,"Yes it is a great game, but it has one major flaw..".

Shipping to retailers today.
Game is said to be challenging on normal difficulty (although there is an easier setting than normal available).
