XSEED I believe has tried to get the rights to Tales of Rebirth, but was unsuccessful. I know for a fact that Victor Ireland (he said so on his now defunct Working Designs forum) tried to get the rights to Tales of Destiny 2 was but was also denied. Ireland likes Tales games, and I have a suspicion he tried to get the rights to Phantasia PSX, as well.

There's also an old rumor that Namco tried to bring over ToD2 themselves, but SCEA blocked it. If true, it could very well be the reason why we never saw any other localization attempts of 2D Tales on Sony platforms.

Tempest is garbage through and through, it's too early to conclude anything for Hearts, and for whatever reason they recently filed a second extension on the Innocence trademark (Rebirth only got one extension, Tempest didn't get any). Still a mess, at least where Innocence is concerned. Tongue

Agreed; and I thought Legendia was bad o_O; well I don't think its bad it's just that I'm disappointed in the game.

It only came out last year right; throughhim413 said he'll pick up Hearts if it doesn't come here i believe ^_^

Meh dont really care if it come out or not; throughhim413 or Absolute Zero will have it done sooner or later and we get to hear the japanese rather then the dub.

I'm not really interested in doing Hearts at this point. I'm not confident in my ability to provide an acceptable translation without the ability to dub the game. There are too many things that would need to be changed and I'm just not willing to deal with the bitching. When even correcting mistakes like "Ruca" in Innocence gets me nothing but grief, I'm not about to throw myself in front of the Hearts' train.

Despite the BS with the Ruca/Luca thing, I really appreciate that you're putting up with the drama for Innocence.

If there's going to be a dub, I hope it'll be on the same level as Odin Sphere's. On that note, I also hope it will get the same dual-language treatment that Odin Sphere got.

Does this game have a NewGame+? Or a level select with all cutscenes intact?

I don't think I've heard anything like that yet... Was that in Odins sphere? Been a while.

If you're worried about the people who "consider" themselves purist but don't know what they are talking about. I consider myself a purist but when I want a translation that means I want a "translation". I remember reading your post for the Innocence name "changes" (which really weren't changes...) and the people arguing about the name Luca instead of it being Lucas were stupid, your decision was correct. As long as you do your best I'm sure it will be good enough and judging by your works your best is more then good enough Wink

EDIT: OMG I just reread a post and people thought it should have been RUCA! Uhg it's just as bad as the people who think Ed and Al's names from full metal alchemist are actually Edo and Alu. NEVER LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE EVER! Brings back memories of watching an anime where the translator actually translated a characters name morute when it was actually supposed to be morte the french word for death. Those people shouldn't dare consider themselves purists.

Eh?  I always thought it was Ruca, but then again Namco has never been the best at romanizing, huh? (Thitose? >o>Huh? ...)

"Lucas" does fit the Spanish motif of the names better than Ruca, I guess. XD  I wouldn't care either way....

No, I haven't been following the project. ._.

edit: Er Italian motif?  God, I need that game. =_=

Yep.

...and in before celebration! An option would have been nice. This decision once again makes me wish Atlus was the one to rescue this game.

Also, pre-ordered.

Well, I'm glad they have a Japanese option, that's all I'll use.

I hope it doesn't reduce the appeal of the game for the masses though.

That's an interesting choice... I always dreamed of something like that, but to think it's actually happening... Is that really such a good idea not to have an english dub option? we'll have to see I guess.
