Well I am to the final dungeon in Radiant Mythologies, and just need to power-up a bit before I take it on. It has been a good game and I would recommend it to tales of fans Even though I am only like 30% done with the game I believe I will stop when I finish the main story. It is still just a dungeon crawler and I have lots of other distractions.

Pretty much done with Jump Ultimate Stars after 20 hours of gameplay, but still haven't even touched the online. I also need to get around to finishing Final Fantasy 3 on ds.

Currently Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is stealing away all my time. It is bringing me much joy, though I am a big FFVII fan to begin with. My biggest problem with the game is that it has an auto-lock and follow machanic kind of like "semi-auto" control in Tales of games, but with no option to turn it off that I have found. Amazing graphics and engaging gameplay on the whole.

Etrian Odyssey. Best RPG on the NDS, IMO.

Sure there's no storyline whatsoever but its a fantastic dungeon crawler.

Feels great to actually get a replacement PSP battery, especially because I'm playing more than Radiant Mythology on it now.

I ended up having an urge to play the first Final Fantasy again that I rented the PSP version.  I've been meaning to buy Final Fantasy 1 & 2 for the GBA (though I ended up playing a friend's copy of that version for FF1 previously) but for now, I decided to get my Final Fantasy 1 kick by renting the PSP version.  Well, there's nothing much to mention here.  I'm still using the same starting party that I used in the NES version and GBA version (Warrior/Monk/White Mage/Black Mage).  I don't expect beating it to take long anyway.

Well, I was at my mom's house for the last week and I finally resumed my Etrian Odyssey game, and finished the main quest.

Somehow, it seems I was lucky. Appears many first-timers make awful parties in EO and have to restart them many times over and over to finally put together a good crew. But, the first party I made took me through the entire main quest... except my first alchemist and the protector I made. My first alchemist was godly for the first stratum but sucked in the next one. The second one I made was good through the game. First Alchy was based around poison and thunder, second was fire and ice. I changed the protector I had because I didn't like her damage output and her skills seemed useless. She wasn't a crucial change, I just wanted a better fighter.

I must have hit the jackpot with my party because I didn't find the game terribly difficult at all past the first stratum. A lot of people found the game deathly hard. Shrug. Was I overlevelled? I didn't grind for levels except when I felt like making new characters to bring up to speed with the main party. All I did was map the dungeons as much as I could and did whatever grinding was required to complete quests... and my characters still hit the max level by the time I reached the main quest final boss.

That said, I retired my entire party for the bonuses on succeeding recruits and the level grind to bring them back up has sucked. Even if you have powerful equipment, you'll still get pummeled too hard by decent enemies to level up quickly. At least my group is finally getting strong enough to fight in the first area of the 5th stratum.

Anyway, it's still my favorite DS game and handily beats FF3 (which I didn't really like) to a pulp. But it may not be as accessible to some people.

Hurry up and bring on EO2!

Protectors aren't exactly made for offensive purposes. Rather they're to buff you're party. The Defender skill is really when combined with a Medic's Immunize you'll take very few damage. The Anti-Fire/Bolt/Ice skills are extremely useful against the post-game bosses as well.

In terms of damage dealing you'll want to train them so they can get the Smite skill. Damage isn't exactly that great but it at least lets them do something other than buffing the party.

I liked FF3 just fine. My only gripe is that you get a lot of the classes quite late and that the game is very short. Also the added story development was hilarious. Oh yes and the WiFi for side quests thing was really stupid.

I agree though, Etrian Odyssey is a WAY better game.

Anyway on topic:
When it arrives I'll probably be playing ONE - To the Radiant Season. Its a visual novel made by Key, known for their works like Kanon or Clannad.

Still playing Jeanne d'Arc. Yup, no other comments.

And finally, since I got the netplay patch working, I'm playing Melty Blood Act Cadenza VerB against my brother. I cannot versus against others though since Australia is known for their horrible ping rates.

I finally have Valkyrie Profile Silmera. It looks Cless was all hyped out about it for a reason. It is easily the best RPG for the PS2, hands down.

Also still playing ONE - To radiant season don't get much of a chance to play though since there's always people around. Moving out of this place is starting to sound promising =(

wow, 10k views on this topic.

Starting Grandia 3; no opinion so far. But gotta love the carefree moving theme. But they really are making it a little too cheesy.
