Replaying the first Etrian Odyssey. Trying out a no Immunize run. Moas are actually very hard without Immunize!

My party for the curious is Protector, Dark Hunter, Ronin, Medic and Troubadour. To be different my DH uses Swords not Whips. I personally find Hypnos, Drain and Bait to be more useful than the binds. On my last playthrough Bait utterly destroyed the final boss. It was great.

Also replaying Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I decided to give Marcia a chance this time. She becomes drastically better once she promotes so I don't regret doing so.

The first stratum boss was a complete pushover...I think I came overprepared or something. Dunno, but I sent him packing with my Force skills in just two or three turns.

Which why I always do no force skill runs. Chimaera is actually very hard if you don't have a Protector to lower the damage you take.

the Protector still really sucks horribly at attacking (Smite even seems nerfed, if I'm remembering it correctly).

Well Protectors are only compulsory against the game's ultimate boss. Since you need Provoke to survive his ultimate attack. However Beasts and Survivalists also have skills similar to Provoke though generally the Protector is the better choice.

Also yeah Smite has been slightly nerfed but it does far more damage than any move the move a Lands and Surv can do other than Counter.

I think I'm using the War Magus incorrectly (treating him too much like a Medic, like I should've just used a Medic to begin with. Well, maybe his stronger defense will come in handy...).

War Magi are faster than Medics if you equip them with a sword. This automatically makes them better than Medics IMO.

I didn't find out about Immunize's brokenness until AFTER I already beat the fifth stratum. I didn't have much trouble with the game at all. The second stratum's difficulty spike and the ant nest in the third stratum were the only things that really registered as a little tougher than average. I didn't finish all the post-game content. B29F was too goddamned annoying and the mapping system was woefully inadequate for it.

For what it's worth, I never used a Troubadour either.

I wish EO games would allow you to import your map data into replays. It'd make the idea of playing them again a lot more attractive. Mapping is fun the first time, but after that it just seems tedious to do it all over again. I'd think the notes would be a hell of a lot more useful in a replay, too.

Which why I always do no force skill runs. Chimaera is actually very hard if you don't have a Protector to lower the damage you take.

Immediately after beating Chimaera, I started leveling a full team of Survivalists. I took my regular party back up to beat Chimaera again after it respawned (same EXP from after beating it the last time), but with no Force skills. It was still no real trouble at all. My party just did slightly less damage overall and it took maybe one or two extra turns. My Ronin is currently specializing in ice attacks and her single-hit ice special does well over 200 damage a hit IIRC. Maybe that's after War Might. Over-levelled too? Dunno.

It hasn't been long since I last posted but I got Darius Burst now. Not bad but it feels like a step down from G-Darius and Darius Gaiden.

Chimaera is weak to ice >_>

Also recommended level to fight him 16 or so. I usually end up fighting him at around level 17.

Well personally I found him to be harder than most of the other main game bosses. The only one who really trumps him is that nasty 3rd strata boss.

I have been thinking about buying that game. My collection feels a bit empty without an A-RPG.

I'm also thinking of buying Eternal Sonata but it's not a done deal yet. The demo was not enough to convince me.

You need some Uncharted 1&2 in there too.

Edit: Also, finished Shadow of the Colossus. Pretty interesting experience. Post-game extras are sorta worthless too since you have to beat the game first before getting them and all the extras do is to make easier a game that you've already proven you can beat.

I'm reluctant to go back to Baten Kaitos because my laptop crapped out which had text files on it that I was using to keep track of magnus cards that I've yet to get and stuff.

For now I've picked up NiGHTS into Dreams... (PS2) again. I didn't really understand how the game worked at first so I gave up, but I took some time and now I think I got the hang of it so I'm working on it again. It has this whimsical air to it and I can see why people like it.

Also gonna juggle this with Mega Man X Collection since I picked it back up a few months ago but dropped it again. X6 and Battle & Chase are the last games I still need to beat on it. Not looking forward to X6 because I remember it had those gay reploids that like to be gay and get infected before you can save them and you permanently miss out on their bonuses.

Now THAT I'm gonna buy for sure. I'll wait until Uncharted 2 gets less pricey though.

I know that wasn't directed towards me but I'll just say that you don't need to tell me that.  I got a PS3 for Christmas and...well, I'll let this speak for itself.

Besides, Uncharted is what finally sold me the PS3.

Pretty much what I'll be playing...then I can get that Batman game via Playstation 3 (admittingly, I know the playable Joker isn't enough validation to get that version and the PS3, but since this ended up being planned that I would end up with a PS3, I figure, "What the hell.")

Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, God of War Collection and many more is what made me want a PS3. Also, Valkyria Chronicles is AWESOME. I've been playing that one the most out of the 4 games I have.

P.S: Congrats on the PS3.

OK, I have been playing a fun little RPG for the NES called Glory of Heracles II: Titans' Downfall. It's from the Glory of Heracles series by Data East(the series is now handled by Paon, since DE went bankrupt). I'm pretty much playing this because the series is getting it's first official English release...that and I'm a fan of Greek mythology.

The game feels like Dragon Quest but only set in ancient Greece.
