It's more like Rebirth in that regard. Slower, but more intense than usual.

This game is surprisingly difficult.

Free run isn't nearly as abusable

O_O

This sounds awesome. I hated ToA's free run, it's great to know they finally found a way to use it without making the battles retardedly easy. DO WANT

I was worried that it would be really hard to top Abyss

you were what? Tongue

oh, you mean the characters. wow, not bad! if the battle system is actually balanced somewhat too, that would make this really good.

Normal difficulty sorta feels like the Hard mode of the average Tales game without the jacked up HP. The game is apparently murder on the actual Hard difficulty.

One of the bosses I ran into regularly did attacks that did more damage than Apple Gels and First Aid could heal. I think I was slightly over-leveled when I faced the boss in the demo, but hey, I still went through ten life bottles. Tongue

Currently playing Ys Book I & II again, this time on the Virtual Console (feels nice to have actually be playing it on a real console, and acquiring it legitimately; that's why I like the Virtual Console).
I'm also juggling between three MMOs, Guild Wars, Sword of the New World, and Perfect World.

I haven't finished ToD2 but I didn't find it that hard. I did struggle a little on the 1st Barbatos battle though since using items is suicide during that and you were limited on healing options.

I should really get around to finishing that game at some point =/

Anyway finished Disgaea 3. Story mode was fast and easy though I didn't kill and Lvl9999 enemies like Cless did =/

IMO, Cless is right though that story is the 1st game is still better but I think they did this one pretty well. And the ending is quite different from the other N1 games. Anyway, working on post-game now. Working on getting Omega Fire for my Mage so I can grind her on 7-3.

Not sure how I'm going to level up my physical fighters though. Slayer's Decent doesn't have the 3x3 range that Winged Slayer provides but its probably good enough. Plus since Weapon Mastery has been ditched its easier to get it on other characters without having to waste hours having characters whack each other on invincibility panels.

Still plowing through Vesperia. Got to the second part of the game yesterday. I can definitely see where people are coming from when they say "This is the game Abyss was trying to be." While Abyss was a very fine game, it was pretty obvious that it was rushed to meet the Japanese tenth anniversary dateline. Vesperia's very polished.

I gotta say one thing. Unfortunately, some parts of the game's translation don't share that same level of polish. Those parts seem REALLY rushed, particularly in the menus. I've seen at least three typos in item names so far. ITEM NAMES. ITEM NAMES!@*(!&@#. That's not everything that needs work. Did they just insert the basic translation and not edit it at all?

I can see at least seven things that need work in this screen alone.

I'm at least glad they finally ditched the ax spelling for axe.

On the other hand, most of the story dialogue is well done. The voice acting for the main cast is superb. Yuri is flawless.

I'm playing Final Fantasy II for the psp.  It's a pretty good game, but mainly because I don't want to quit before I've beaten it.

I just got through a pretty intense series of plot twists. Wow, Vesperia is absolutely amazing. Team Symphonia raises the bar for story and characters in the series once again.

I don't think I've felt this satisfied with a game in the series since picking up Phantasia for the first time. Game of the generation so far for me, easily.

I want to keep playing, but I need sleep.

Still playing Disgaea 3. I haven't even started the first post-game battle yet, still getting everyone to their max tiers. IMO, the post-game is easier to get into since levelling is a lot faster. Lvl99 enemies in a 3x3 formation plus Exp + 100% is fantastic and makes it easier to get strong enough to train in the House of Ordeals.

Also playing RefleX. I will beat that game, I swear. I just need to get past the final boss' stupid guided missiles!

And Etrian Odyssey 2. I killed Ur-Child so all that's left is to level all my characters to 99 (Which will take forever) and collect all the items and equipment (Which will also take forever). The Masamune is an amazing weapon, too bad that once you get it you'll probably won't need it =(

Im playing

Xenogears: Had it for around 5 months, never really played it, Im going to take my time to talk to the NCPs and get items, cause knowing its a SE game Im gonna need levelling up...

.hack//Quarantine: I have already beaten, but Im completing the Item List and the Ryu Books. I know for some people is boring, but I find it fun to hunt items Tongue

Tales of Destiny 2: Im doing a M-NI-ND(Mania-No Items- No Death) Run, Im posting it on YouTube, since its pretty tough I take this playthrough as a "work" unlike the other games I play.

Bully: Just gotten this game, and as far as Ive seen it its high school GTA Cheesy. Its fun and all, I think Im gonna enjoy kicking teachers butts...

The only real grind is when is leveling to 20 before fighting Calamity (Don't have to but it helps out in the long run) and mastering Deathblows. Otherwise no grinding is really necessary since most boss fights are in Gears and Gears don't level up.

I have a friend who holds Xenogears in high regard. He was telling me about how funny it is to level up your characters and totally murder enemies that were meant to be fought in gears.

Back on topic:
Finishing up my Abyss second playthrough, getting everything. I just need everyone to be master chefs and it is sucking ass having to get into fights and cook like 30+ times to get max stars for just one recipe. After I get that out of the way, need to beat Nebilim on very hard mode to get Luke's last costume title and I think that's it. Currently loving playing in the Abyssman costumes. Makes some scenes amusing since you can't see their expressions through the helmets.

After that I think I'll play some more Vesperia. Thankfully my new roommate has it. School just started though so not gonna have much time to play.

So then what I have to power up is actually the Gears  Tongue
Seems like wasting all those good looking items...
Actually just got bart (the operation thing), seems like the game´s story is going nowhere in this point, though awesome charater background for the Doc Cheesy Just so far Ive seen he seems an insteresting character (he seems the equivalent of Xenosaga´s chaos)
At any rate I have gotten a few deathblows and hell they are fun. The battle system is pretty good, and the bosses are quite fun.

BTW is it actually possible to beat the bosses without the Gears?? o.o Kogahazan´s comment makes me wonder...
