I'm getting back into Etrian Odyssey. I finished the main quest awhile back, but I've yet to do the post game stratum. I want to beat this 100% before getting to EO2.

When I finished the main quest, I stupidly retired my entire party (they were at max level). Thought the bonuses would be useful in the post-game, but the grind to get my party back up to speed has been absolutely PAINFUL. I don't know if these six extra skill points were really worth it... but at least they're averaging level 56 now. I can confortably grind in B25F, which seems decent.

On top of that, I still need to go back and level the protector I dumped upon reaching the 5th stratum, as they're apparently mandatory against the post-game bosses.

Its more painful in Etrian Odyssey 2 since you need to increase your level cap by 1 level you need to retire at max level. Getting to Level 99 is very painful.

The bonuses are only really helpful if you're going to make a combat Medic.

Yeah you'll need their Anti element abilities if you want to beat them. Only level them to make you immune to the element though. Absorbing it still gives you the status conditions the spell would normally cause.

Yes, the Claret Hollows are evil. It doesn't help that enemies are so powerful either.

Anyway back on topic, my brother being the Sonic fanatic he is got Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. Its an okay game though there's much better racing games.

Also Gigawing. Bullet hell <3

I ended up saying ***** it and copied the map for B27F at gamefaqs. At least, I painted in the tiles that WEREN'T pits. Seems impossible to map that floor properly, and even if you could, Etrian Odyssey 8 would be out, and there's not enough memory to mark all the pits anyway.

The new evil is B29F. As decent as the mapping system may be, it's woefully inadequate for warps. As nice as the improvements to EO2's mapping system seem to be, they still don't improve anything for warp hell. Absolutely NEED to be able to place numbers on top of them, but the DS resolution doesn't lend itself well to that.

Enemies aren't a big deal. But I have a habit of spamming special attacks almost exclusively and loading up on Amritas...

But on top of that, it seems like getting a 100% item compendium is going to be far too much work and time. I would like it if Iwaopeln would actually drop the god damn Gold Plume but it won't. The turtle FOEs in stratum 6 also refuse to give me a 1000 Shell.

You just reminded me of how I actually rented that game during the week.  The original had frustrating moments...Zero Gravity ended up being so easy that I pretty much did all there is to offer in a day.  Yeah, I sent it back the next day.  It just reminded me that I should have been playing Mario Kart Wii instead.

On another note, I was actually stubborn enough to finish Eternal Sonata.  All I have to say is that I am so disappointed in it.  I'll spare all of you from my longer version of the rant over the game (besides, that's what my certain blog entries were for) but I think Cless dodged the bullet quitting because the second half, along with its ending, is just ridiculous and make me ask, "What point are you trying to make here?" (never mind one moment that *vague spoiler* One character gets introduced and shortly after, gets killed off).  Also, the cast weren't that interesting and 1.  Even with my issues with Tales of the Abyss (which you all know), I am not afraid to admit that they (Abyss cast) were more interesting than Eternal Sonata's cast.  That's how uninteresting the cast were.  2.  I doubt the actual Chopin was this boring and he was the least dull out of the cast.  The battle system was merely passable but it resorted to being more of a button masher than when someone criticizes the Tales battle system.  Oh yeah, by the end of the game, my party was overpowered that fighting became futile.  In the end, the great presentation combined with a poor story, poor characters, and passable gameplay made an average game hiding behind the "originality" sign.  I really wanted to like this game but it didn't live up to what it could have been.  To think that this was a major reason why I wanted an Xbox 360.  At least Master Chief bailed me out by being another game for me to get for the 360.  Not to mention...there's Tales of Vesperia.  Believe me, my actual rant on this game, while not M-rated, is a lot harsher than what I said here.  I can't recommend Eternal Sonata.

Well after that, all I've been playing for the time being is more Rock Band.  Yes, I can't stop playing it.

Um it is not like any Xbox RPGs are good.. eternal sonata is decent, which is shockin.
After watching a few gameplay vids--- I prefer playing ToD DC 100 times more than mashing a button... (umm ToV will do the same as it seems.. crap, another tales garbage as it seems)

Gigawing is a shmup so its only two players. The one I was playing was Gigawing Generations. Its pretty laggy when there's two players.

The fact it was easier to get everything was a bit of a mixed blessing. Made it easier to play as preferred characters and gears but killed the replay value.

I'm not really a big Mario Kart fan though. Too much emphasis on power ups and not enough on actual racing. I'm more of an F-Zero person >_>

I actually got the Gold Plume on my first try ._.

Iwaopeln is easy to get to though since there's no encounters and the FOEs around it are easy to avoid. So just keep reloading until you get it.

Drake on the other hand...

Guild Wars (though I'm not a very dedicated player)
Tales of Phantasia (again; it's the PSX version, but untranslated; I've been loyal to phantasia productions).
And...
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, for the PSX (yes, I know you're thinking I'm a weirdo).
Oh, and Star Ocean, for the SFC.  Pity that DeJap never finished the patch.  I'm actually playing it on my PSP, there's some really weird sound errors.

I've been playing Yokushin myself, and I gotta say, the bullets are way TOO colorful for my tastes. >__>

Still a great game though, and a worthy sequel to the two other Giga Wing games. And my hiscore so far is something around 400,000,000,000,000,000 Grin

Also, I've been busy with quite a few shooters lately. Especially Soukyuugurentai for PS1, which requires that you DON'T SHOOT the enemies if you don't want the game to kick your ass on the later levels. o_o

I've lost my drive to finish EO at 100%. It's going to be impossible to fill the item compendium in a reasonable amount of time. 30 resets later and still no Gold Plume from Iwaopeln, even with three party members with the Scavenge skill (only one is maxed, but...). The real trick to getting the 1000 Shell from the Shellord was to kill it with staff attacks (NOT fun). I guess I just want to dig into EO2 already! I did get a taste of it in Japanese but I'd much rather play it in English.

So pulling another game off my immense backlog, I've fallen back to Izuna, which I think I once mentioned playing somewhere earlier in this thread. I played it for a couple or so hours back then, but then shelved it. Within the last several days I've probably put in another 20 hours or so into it and I believe I'm in the last dungeon.  It's a fun little game when you figure out how it works. I'll grab the sequel when it comes out.
