I've still been playing Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (N64)...for real this time.  To be truthful, I'm playing it again.  I've used a friend's N64 Memory Card to play it previously and beaten it without mentioning it.  The thing with the game is that it's short but sweet and I find it such a great game that I had to immediately play it again (and I have a list of Fortune Dolls for this play through this time).  Now, I got myself an official N64 memory card (i.e. Controller Pak) and an N64 Dexdrive to keep the save safe.  At least I have less to worry about when I go and get Goemon's Great Adventure now.

And since I'm talking about games involving ninja, I'll bring up a different batch of ninja...yeah.  I'll admit it.  I couldn't resist renting another Ninja Turtles game that I'm playing that game based around the recent Ninja Turtles movie, TMNT (Wii).  The game plays like a lite Prince of Persia (of course, this Ninja Turtles game was made by Ubisoft) and, well, it's certainly feels average, similar to how I felt about Konami's first Ninja Turtles game based around the 2003 cartoon.  It's certainly playable.

Also, been playing more Pokémon Diamond (DS).  That's all I need to say.

Etrian Odyssey is here! It's here! And man is it awesome. I've pretty much explored up to most of B2F. Need to beat one more FOE and explore one more nook and I'm ready to start hitting B3F. Lovin' it.

Also, last night after FF6a pissed me off, I randomly decided to open Izuna. Got to the 3rd dungeon, I find it kinda fun, better than my expectations so far.

I just finished Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, getting all three endings with Juste. I'm going to put off replaying as Maxim so I can play Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. These are my first ever Castlevania games, and so far I've been enjoying the experience (my friend whom recommended them to me said I'd like it since it bears more resemblance to RPGs than the console games, and they were right!)

After I finish that off, I'm not sure what I'll play next. I still have FF6A and FF5A in my backlog, but I'll probably procrastinate again. Oh well.

I've hit B6F of Etrian Odyssey. This game is so, so good. Stomps all over FF3, and most other RPGs, for that matter. My favorite DS game for sure. This game ain't no cakewalk. All battles require tactics, unless you're strong enough to pretty much mow the enemy down and take little damage.

I have Odin Sphere now, but even that isn't pulling me away from this awesome, awesome game.

Wish I had a DS then >_< Ill have to head over to my friends and look the game up sometime.

Right now I just got back into Front Mission 4, I was thinking of changeing a few things about the mech`s though, maybe give a few new weapons or parts.

OH! AND! I just got a copy of Bleem for my Dreamcast so I can play my PS1 games on there too, Since my Ps2 would only work with PS2 backups, Now I have the dreamcast for PS1 backups! So its a good day for me.

My PSP is giving me an excuse to re-play Xenogears. I don't care what anyone says, I still find it awesome despite its lack graphical prowess.

As for Etrian Odyssey, finally broke through floor two's horrid jump in enemy power and got some skill points to use, and managing much better. Incidentally, the game is now much more fun, too.

If you thought B2F was hard, you're gonna love the difficulty spike at B6F. Tongue Though the boss of the first stratum (on B5F) is very, very tough if you don't get a good strategy down.

But I'm at B12F now. I kinda feel overlevelled, cause most things are kinda easy. Most things die before they get a chance to attack, but if they do, some have some pretty nasty abilities (curse status really, really sucks). The FOEs on B11F are pretty tough though... it's practically luck to beat them right now...

I'm messing around right now. Ronin became available so I made one and have been soloing with her for quick levels.

Well, I've actually been somewhat focused on Guilty Gear XX Accent Core since getting it about 3-4 days ago. Then again, once all my friends found out I got it early, I've had plenty of people to play against and keep my attention on it.

I decided to order an Xbox 360 last week, I figured it'd be a better investment than upgrading my PC to just barely run games like Bioshock and Unreal Tournament 3. I finally received it yesterday, I set it up and switched it on, half expecting a ring of death and... well, it worked fine for 15 or so minutes, then the console inexplicably reset itself and a loud grinding sound ensued. "That's the end of Gears" I thought. The disc drive wouldn't respond after that. I used the manual eject to retrieve the disc and it was unharmed, fortunately enough. The dashboard still worked and I ended up playing Hexic for a bit, hoping that the problem may possibly resolve itself.

Having switched it off for a few hours, I booted it up again and to my surprise it actually did manage to resolve itself (following a loud click, I might add) and I was able to get a few hours gaming done before calling it a night. I tried it again this morning and the problems began all over again (no grinding sound but more frequent resetting), GRRR! Sad

A few more hours later, dealing with the Indian support guy went somewhat smoother than expected, although he didn't quite seem able to comprehend that the drive was b0rked (although to be fair to him, he was probably rigorously following some kind of procedural flowchart).

So that's that, I'll now be sending off my new-fangled 360 in exchange for an older refurb. And the moral of this story? Oh, god knows... expect the worst and hope for the best when buying a 360, I guess.

If there's a plus side to all this, I've finally seen my TV running in 720p and it's gorgeous (especially with Gears of War).

Looks like I now have plenty of time to play Odin Sphere (but I'm too exhausted right now).

I haven't had too many problems with my 360 yet. When I bought it last month, I got 4 games, all used. Usually I don't buy used stuff, but they were doing a buy 1 used game get one free deal, so I ended up getting 2 games for free. O_O That, along with some other trade-in specials they were doing cut the total price down from $630 to $480 (I got the Premium, Kameo, Virtua Tennis 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Dead or Alive 4, and an extra controller. Now I need to buy the rip-off $100 wireless adapter, or a wireless bridge for about as much). I was quite happy about that. However, 2 of my games start freezing now, it's getting kind of annoying. Funny thing is, I've NEVER had any trouble whatsoever with used games, perhaps the 360 discs are more sensitive.

I bought the Command & Conquer 3 premium bundle at Play.com, it seemed like a pretty good deal (for "rip-off Britain" anyway). I also bought Kameo for Ł10, tried playing it yesterday but I barely got 5 minutes in before the resetting prob resurfaced). I really enjoyed the free Hexic HD puzzle game, a pity they didn't consider putting it on the XBLA Unplugged disc (in case it required reinstalling, afaik you need to go through support to do it).

I'm not on Xbox Live yet, I realise it's an important aspect of the 360 but I'm still stuck on dial-up at the moment. Hopefully, I'll be able to finally get broadband in September, in the meantime I'll always have plenty of offline gaming to get on with (360 or otherwise).

On the subject of the hardware (again), I didn't think it was unreasonable to expect most of the console's faults to be ironed out at this stage, but it appears to have been too much to hope for. Mind you, the MFR date on this console is 2006-10-20 so it isn't new new (so to speak), I suppose it's always possible that things have improved since then. Of course, this particular console's problem is actually quite different from the majority of scare stories out there (but it's obviously no less disappointing for it).

So, yeah, ho-hum. Whatever happens with the replacement, I now feel resigned to the fact that this is part and parcel of the 360 experience. Oh well, if nothing else, at least all my games and peripherals are in good order.

I'm waiting for the 65nm manufacture process (which hopefully translates into more reliable hardware) and at least a $100 price drop before I spring for the 360. Which'll hopefully happen by the end of the year, because I really want to play Eternal Sonata.

That said my playing of Etrian Odyssey has been slowing down. No real reason, other than Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind trying to pull me back. I also gave Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion a trial run. Runs better than I expected on my PC, game has a feel that seems a bit strange coming straight off of Morrowind. I'm sure it's a great game, but I still have *plenty* to do with MW. I think I'll wait til Oblivion gets a budget release with all the expansion packs included before I get serious about it.
