Final Fantasy Gaiden for DS is essentially a new, retro-inspired FF game. It draws more inspiration from the NES-era from what I know of it, though. I guess maybe it could be considered something that could've come between FF3 and FF4 in terms of style. Still no word on a localization. Sad

Also just reached chapter 10 of FFXIII. Chapter 9 was pretty crazy...boss was scary.

FFXIII started out really, REALLY bad, but has definitely picked up. Also am at the start of chapter 4. A bit of poor design here and there, (why is *final fantasy* copying *mass effect* in terms of menu design???), a bit too linear in parts, but fairly nice overall.

Character Breakdown: Sazh is awesome, Hope swings wildly between fairly decent character and Japanese Bullshit Emo Sasuke, Snow must be a HERO and PROTECT his NAKAMA all the time and is a lolicon but is awesome anyway because Yuri Lowell, Vanille is often annoyingly Japanese Bullshit but otherwise has an interesting accent and is a pretty cool girl, and Lightning is Squall Strife. In a bad way, in case there was any confusion.

Snow is awesome because he's like Yuri Lowell?  It sounded incomplete but if that's what you were going for, then I'll throw something here.

I know both Yuri and Snow are arrogant and cocky.  However, I find at least Yuri isn't all talk about it (if he intends to kill someone for his idea of justice, he'll do it).  Snow, however, is currently all talk!  He say he must be a hero but hasn't proved anything about it.  He still has time, though.  I'll give him that but he still comes off as an arrogant idiot.  Now, I haven't found any reason for me to hate him (truthfully, I don't truly hate him) but I'd be lying if I didn't say he deserved to be punched in the face (he really does).  I just don't hate him to the point of hating him as if he was Shirley Fennes.

Oh, and I saw a certain flashback scene in chapter 5 and I will say that Lightning isn't off the hook either after seeing that.  She has her moment of being a fool (flashback involves more of her disapproval of Snow and Serah tying the knot but I won't go into details there).  So even if she does give Snow what he deserved, she still has her moments of being a fool.

I'm still nervous about Hope confronting Snow, though.

I know the scene your talking about.

The birthday party where she comments to Serah that she'd have to kill her if she really were a l'Cie

Lightning's bitchyness really shines through then, I agree.

I'm starting to see the other, more gentle side of her as she travels with Hope, though.

Sazh and Vanille still get my best character votes though.  Best duo ever   Cheesy

Snow is voiced by Troy Baker. That's why he said "because Yuri Lowell".

I want to play something that's not FF13 for a few days. I already have almost 27 hours since Tuesday-midnight. And I'm approaching burnout. I have no idea how people can finish games so quickly anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Gonna see if my friend'll loan me White Knight Chronicles for a week. If I can get through the story, then I won't have to play it ever again. I'm not into online gaming...or multiplayer of any sort, really.

Ah.  Okay.  I didn't really hear anything Yuri when hearing Snow (I wasn't listening hard enough on that part).  I was thinking it was more about their cockiness rather than their English voice.  (And Troy Baker isn't one of the voice actors I'm stuck in typecasting mode with).

But what I say about Snow still stands, though.

Haha, man, I feel so out of place in the middle of all this FFXIII talk. Good to hear that Sazh is THE MAN, I was hoping he'd be a fun character to watch.

So, I finally finished The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Definitely a good game, though I wish I hadn't taken so long to beat it. The final gauntlet was pretty challenging for me, I died on nearly every stage, haha. Good thing you get to restart from that part instead of re-doing everything, it would've been awful otherwise since I'm still not all that great at gaming even in my favourite genres. Heh!

Looks like the next game I'll play is Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. Still can't believe it actually came out down here so soon, but it's a pleasant surprise. Cheesy

Picked up a copy of Sly 2: Band of Thieves. I would be playing F-Zero GX as well but GameStop thought it would be a great idea to send me a disc that doesn't work. It gets an error after the first screen. What the hell? Bang Head

Busting up other robots in Custom Robo. I got it with the credit from selling all the crap from my game collection(Shadow, I'm looking at you!). And tomorrow, I'll get this faulty F-Zero GX disc replaced and get this over with...

EDIT: I now have Ratchet & Clank. I rented it from the video store near me years ago. Why the hell I didn't buy it? I dunno. Oh, and I got my copy of F-Zero GX replaced with a working one. This game is WIN. I love how crazy fast this game is!

Wild ARMS XF. Great stuff, may just be my favorite SRPG for the PSP.

Also just like everyone else, Final Fantasy XIII. Haven't gotten that far into it but its pretty decent I suppose.

Except that unlocking all the AX stuff is a pain in the ass =(

I still have yet to done so even to this day... I've gotten some of the vehicles (I love Fat Shark) but I've yet to unlock any of the tracks =(

Maybe I should find a arcade machine (Nearest one is all the way in Sydney though... ugh)

They have an F-Zero arcade game?

Yep.  Sega made both an F-Zero Gamecube game and an arcade game for Nintendo.  They were also designed so you can unlock stuff for the Gamecube game by using your save on an F-Zero AX arcade machine, which you would have to unlock in game through extremely difficult objectives.

Then again, since it's hard to find an F-Zero arcade machine, even the easy route to unlock the AX stuff is just as hard as in game.
