This is a little something different.  I made this in a blog post with also the intention to bring it up here.  I'm asking you (all of you) if I should play Too Human.  I'll explain why I'm asking you guys if I should do it or not.
---
You may have heard of an Xbox 360 game called Too Human. It's a game developed by Silicon Knights, known for the Gamecube game Eternal Darkness and the remake of Metal Gear Solid. Too Human has been in development hell for 9 years and finally got released this year.

While the game has been getting mixed reviews (mainly middling ones), the interesting thing surrounding the game is more about how people, even professionals, are up at arms at each other over if Too Human is actually a good game or a bad one.  G4's Kevin Pereira called out Gamespot's review of Too Human done by Kevin Van0rd (don't ask about the zero. His works seems to be signed that way).  Also, I heard that IGN's Matt Casamassina said that anyone who gave Too Human a middling score (C, 3/5, 5/10, etc) has "No business reviewing games" and "obviously reviewing the company, not the game."  Wow, and people wondered why I had trouble telling my real thoughts on Tales of Legendia and especially Tales of the Abyss (Don't worry, I said this only as a sass remark).

I happen to make a sarcastic comment on #tales where I said, "I must be a moron for not seeing the greatness of Too Human!" as a comment on what I mentioned above.  What came up was Carn actually got me reconsidering if I should check out the full version of Too Human but I haven't really said, "I'll do it."

This is where all of you come in.  I want you to decide if I should or should not go into playing Too Human and tell me why.  Now, I could have decided myself if I would do it but I thought, "That'll be no fun!"  Besides, I'm barely leaning towards no after recalling my experience trying the demo in early August (I'll say this about my impression of the Too Human demo...I was so bored playing the demo I swear I almost fell asleep playing it).  Now, if most of the votes goes towards, "Yes," I'll do it. I think I did reference it in the "Now Playing" topic that I do have a Gamefly rental subscription, so my plan is to rent the game but availability may vary so it may or may not take long for me to rent it.

The only thing I won't know is if I'll end up liking Too Human like how I did Bioshock, hate it as much as Transformers: Convoy no Nazo (doubt it, since that game is my benchmark for worst game ever), or go "meh."

So, the question is..."Should I play Too Human?"  (taking into consideration:  "I'm a complete dork that submits himself to awful stuff to learn what constitutes them being awful!" and the explanation made above)

Hmm... Looking at videos, and taking a open idea, I wouldn't say it'd be a bad game, but you'd have to take some things in consideration.  The gameplay reminds me of a mix of Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core.  Ask yourself, do you like that kind of gameplay?

I'm not a fan of the character art style, it looks alot like Halo and I'm not really that kind of fan... But that's just my preferences....  The customizations are nice, balancing out the difficulty.  If you like the game to be easier, you can go with the upgrades, or you can just go hard core on it, making battles much more difficult by not upgrading.

And while I love the idea of auto-lock, I'm not sure I'd want to have to remember what all the attacks do.  Like having to deal with using the right analog stick, while using the left analog stick to move around.  That was my worst nightmare with the kingdom Hearts games.  Using the D-pad/right analog stick to cycle through the menu, to use a potion or an ether, while running around to keep from getting attacked.  It over complicated things too much to the point I just assigned shortcuts.

But, from what I had seen from it.  It doesn't look like a bad game overall, and it might be a game I could enjoy if I wasn't such a hard core JRPG gamer.

hmm... this game is by Silicon Knights, and while I'm eternally grateful to them for making the game that started one of my favorite non-jRPG series (Legacy of Kain), I have to admit I don't like their games that much.

Anyway, if you can just rent it (which means it won't be a waste of your money) and have enough free time to do so (it won't be a waste of your time), why not at least try it? Most of my favorite games are the ones that positively surprised me, and most of the games I hate are the ones I played with great expectations... so at least for me, if reviewers (and everyone else) seem to agree that the game isn't good, that usually makes me even more curious. And that seems to be the case with Too Human.

I've heard mixed word of mouth. Some people I know started out liking it, but they ended up becoming frustrated by the auto-levelling enemies.

trick a friend of yours into playing it, then based on his opinion of the game choose to play it... or not.

That's what I do, and it never fails, spares me time and money too.

Unless I'm sold on the game, if I am I'd jump off a cliff after it if needed.

I'm sorry to say but it's not allowing me to view it.

NeoGAF?  I don't know if this is the GAF being referred to, but I remember hearing Denis Dyack, the big guy behind Silicon Knights and Too Human, making a bet with them saying that "You're all going to be wrong!"  Interesting that gets brought up, though.

Okay, I was waiting to hear anything else before I make a response here and since other have said to do it...well, I'll let my Gamefly Q do the talking for me.

So yeah, I'm going to go through with it and rent it.  Since the availability is low right now, it's going to take some time.  Not to mention, it's hard to predict the right time to go for it.

So, if I get to playing it, I'll be mentioning it in the Now Playing topic and see for myself.  Hopefully, I don't fall asleep like the demo almost made me do.

P.S.  Yep, Denis Dyack is as egotistical as I heard he was over this game.  Then again, Itagaki's ego is the only one that seems to entertain me.
