What a total mind **** lol. I watched the original 26 episodes and the End of Evangelion film (you NEED to watch this to understand the ending). Everything you've heard about NGE is probably true, it's thought provoking, intense, very confusing, but overall a fun ride. For those who have seen it what are your thoughts?

I read the manga, and if the show is anything like it, it's pretty damn good!

I did not like Eva the first time I watched it. I absolutely loved it the second time. Definitely glad I gave it a second chance.

From what I've heard the Manga, the anime, and the current films all start off the same, but about a 1/3 of the way though they take radical different paths in the story.

We're all mature adults here. You can curse. I mean, as long as you don't overdo it.

Right, well...Eva. I dunno anymore. There's been that whole internet backdraft thing, and it's just hard to see it with a clear head anymore. I suppose I did like it, but I don't think I'd ever watch it again. Maybe it's more interesting when you're a teenager and into religious symbolism and weird shit. That's kind of how it went with me. At the very least, I can say with the utmost clarity that the music is awesome. They made some symphonic albums and stuff like that. A Japanese friend in high school lent me the CDs, and hearing them as full orchestral music was just an experience beyond words. The rap song was...weird, but it kind of made sense.

Well, lemme just say this: after seeing End of Evangelion, my first thought was "...goddamn, I need a drink." Not that I went and got one, but that's what popped into my head.

I can't say I'm really into religious symbolism or weird shit lol. For clarification I'm 22 and working on a music education major lol. I think all you need to enjoy NGE is appreciation for a complicated story.

I'm a 28 (29 in two months; shit, I'm old) year-old A.S. degree-seeker who grew up in the 90s and lived in an age where people bought CDs, used crappy dial-up modems, and MTV played music videos. Also, anime was on VHS, had two episodes each, and was stupidly-expensive. Damn kids and your more-than-two episodes per DVD. And your DVD boxsets that cost half as much as all the tapes did. And your ability to watch old TV shows that you didn't tape yourselves. I swear, this generation has NO IDEA how good they have it.

I'm curmudgeonly, recalcitrant, and I'm not even THIRTY. Goddammit.

Also, you shouldn't take me all that seriously.

I watched like 6 episodes back in 1998/1999 via this one VHS I bought from eBay and some RM files (lol) some dude uploaded to me. I liked what I saw but never picked it up when I started getting into collecting anime on DVD. I guess by that time I had realized giant robots weren't really my thing, and collecting series at the time wasn't exactly really cheap, so I left it alone.

But an out of print notice went out a couple weeks ago while the set was on sale for $30, so maybe I'll finally finish it.
