Nah, it's soooo much easier when they flip the entire game.

Yeah, I tried to avoid the argument of which one is the "true" version. I personally don't really give a crap calling either one the true one, because it's pointless to say one's the correct version. They both exist, that's the point.

Anyway, yeah, I thought it was a bit akward at first and thought why couldn't they just flip Link himself instead of the whole game. I don't know the difficulties involved in doing that in a 3D world, but even with no knowledge of that you can guess that it's easier to flip the whole game instead of just one thing.

I think they flipped it just to make the GCN version a little more unique, so people can't say you're getting the same exact experience from the GCN version if you skip out on the Wii version.

Maybe the mirror flip is a simple bit change. Tongue

But I think there's a deep reason why the entire game was mirrored and they didn't just simply make link right-handed (and flip the handedness of all enemies while they're at it...). But that requires an in-depth explanation that I'm kinda having trouble putting into words right now... something about perspective, I guess.

I see.  Well, I'll just take everyone's word for it that flipping the whole game is easier than flipping just Link.

No, I know.  I only phrased my statement the way I did because of how Kogahazan mentioned it above.  I'm aware Link was always left-handed.  Either way, my point was simply that it seems strange that rather than just flipping Link's character model, they would invert the entire game from one version to the other.

Flipping the entire game WAS the simple solution. The alternative was to have to reprogram all of Link's interaction with every object that he touches with his hands, since you reach and align differently to open a door with your left hand than your right hand. Flipping the entire video of the game was the quick-and-easy option that only required one programming change. Reprogramming all of those character model animations would have been a much longer process.

This forum looks really good on the Wii. Actually, overall I was slightly impressed with how things looked over the browser. The last time I hit the internet on a console was Dreamcast and I remember it being pretty horrible. Oh, I guess I went online with the PSP but the screen resolution made it pretty much useless.

By the way, I already got my new remote straps! They shipped them on the 22nd and they got here yesterday.. that's insane for this time of the year. Anyway, they're about twice as thick as the originals so I'd imagine it would take some serious effort to have these snap.

A friend of mine got a classic controller for Christmas and since he doesn't actually have a Wii yet, he let me hold onto it. Now, I just figured I'd stick to a Wavebird for any Virtual Console games but after trying this out I'll probably get one myself. It's REALLY comfortable and of course, doesn't have a crippled D-pad like the GameCube controllers. My only complaint is what I'm sure has been said before.. I just wish it was wireless on its own!! I'd gladly pay an extra $10 for a standalone.. though having it attached to the remote isn't quite as intrusive as I thought it would be.

I picked up Alien Crush with my Christmas points. Man, this is STILL an awesome game. The soundtrack rocks too. I got into my groove real quick and hit a sexy 21,000,000 on my third game.

I got a Wii for my birthday today.  I'm really liking it.  The only other game I got was Twilight Princess.  However, I did download Castlevania 4.  Also, this browser is looking good so far (posting this from my Wii).  Certainly a great system.

Still looking into one, sorry for all the questions (thanks for the info on the new Zelda, BTW, though I was too inconvienced to reply at the time). Anyway, What kind of games are they offering on the Virtual console? Cost? Method of storage (Wii uses an SD card?), terms/complications of *keeping* them and not having to re-buy them?

List of current and future virtual console releases categorized by region:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...tual_Console_(Wii)#Titles

Cost depends on region:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ual_Console_(Wii)#Pricing

Storage can be either on the Wii's internal memory or SD cards though they must be copied onto the internal memory to be played. The game is bound to the Wii it is downloaded on to, so you can't put them on an SD card to give to friends. Also, if you delete any games to free up internal memory, they can be redownloaded later for free. More details:

I'm borrowing Wario Ware at the moment, it's great! The multi-player games are insane! One of them supports up to TWELVE people.
