Bandai Namco is doing a brand new RPG (and IP) for Nintendo's Wii, 'Fragile'. The game is being co-developed by Third Party outfit tri-Crescendo (who worked with Bandai Namco and Monolith Soft on Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins, as well as the solo Xbox 360 effort Eternal Sonota) and Bandai Namco's own team that brought the fantastic Japanese-only strategy RPG 'Venus & Braves' to the PlayStation 2 in 2006.

Trailer/Teaser:

Quote from: trailer translation
"Ah Hotaru. This Star, it's this sort of vastness the Earth is overflowing with people, but every person thinks "why am I alone?" It’s because their mind is rot with madness. And to end this madness I must destroy that world, and to do that, I must locate the virus."

Tidbits:

Quote
- The game is set in a future world that "lost its light"
- Set out to find out why people town have disappeared, the town is empty except for animals and spectres.
- Your character, a boy named Seto, travels this moonlight-bathed world in hope to find other human beings [it seems like the moon could play an extensive role in this game, given that it's even mentioned in the subtitle].
- Your only tools will be your flashlight and your metal or wood tools, which can serve as weapons. With your flashlight you'll be able to dissipate the fog, and even interact with the environments, solve puzzles, and uncover enemies.- Joining main character Seto are at least three additional characters: Ren, Sai and Kuro.
- Ren is the white-haired girl who, as previously revealed, is the subject of Seto's search.
- Sai is another female character who meets up with Seto midway through his travels.
- Kuro is a boy who, like Seto, is searching through this world of ruins.
- His search is centered in the Tokyo Tower area as he attempts to find the location depicted in a picture. He feels finding this location will help reveal the past that he has forgotten.
- Although the game might look like a horror game, the game is really more of a human drama story.
- Wide array of different environments, including a train station, theme park and a hotel.
- Various short stories and sketch arts on walls and stuff throughout the game hinting at the world before.
- Contest in three of Mediawork's magazines where readers can submit their own short stories and sketches, two of which will be picked to be implemented into the game.
- The game transitions seamlessly into battle against all varieties of creatures, some who move in groups
- Wii remote acts as two essential tools – a flash light to explore the environment, and a sound-detector using the microphone to reveal invisible spirits.
- When in battle, you keep using the nunchuck to move your character around, and use buttons on the Wiimote to perform attacks.
- You have to select your weapons based off the current enemy.

Looks pretty great. I don't mind a drama story but it would've been nice if they used some horror themes too.

There ... There are a LOT of new screenshots.  You can find them in the game's blog.

I can't be bothered to code this post full of screenshots, so I'm linking to threads instead. :0

This one has some screens on this thread, but there's also artwork

Whee ~~

And even more!

I really hope they localize this X_X

The pictures of the dungeon areas give me the scary reminder of BoF V:  Dragon Quarter.  It might not play the same, but the dungeons look kinda similar.

This game look Amazing, a game I must get. Though your right ryoko it does have the BOFV vibe. As expected from the Tri-Ace and Tri-Crescendo Team, I will always have high expectation from them Cheesy. Though if ever happen I wish Tri-Crescendo and Capcom join forces and create BOF6 ^_^, looking forward to the next BOF whenever that is T_T.

The out of game cut scenes have me confused. It's either the best animation I've seen or the best cel shaded cg I've ever seen. The in game graphics look great. I've seen the game play how ever and it looks kinda iffy to me.

I believe the anime cutscenes are a mix of both, the backgrounds and stuff is 2D, possibly hand drawn and the characters are clearly cel shaded CGI quality 3D. It's not new, that some characters are actually done in 3D at least at some parts on some anime's too (even if vectorized on top, I believe, but for reference) but they're capitalizing on them here and certainly not trying to hide it, I think it benefits the game presentation to a certain extent, it's charming from what I saw.

Gameplay... well, it seems like the battle system is really basic, but what most people are saying is that is is clearly intended, this is not a battle RPG with battles happening each 5 steps you take or so, it's more of a lone exploration RPG aparently (in a ico/metroid prime way, even if those are not RPG's I hear); so yeah, I'll wait and see I guess, but I'm not worried.

The trailer really left me salivating for more though, and intriged on the argument, I'll be sure to get this day one, jumped to one of my most antecipated titles, now if only Bandai Namco would grow some good sense and... keep the japanese voice overs and keep the anime music...  Embarrassed

Oh, and confirmation for a release outside japan, if it was another developer we'd be good to go based solely on how good it looks but... this is bandai namco. So I'm also itching for a confirmation of sorts.

This topic has over 50 images! I wonder if there's a way to avoid it all being on the same page...
Not that I have a slow connection but some people might. Maybe putting a warning in the topic subject would be good...
