I was thinking if there's any chance some of those groups who have translated roms before (I know in this case it wouldn't be a rom, also I don't intend Phantasian productions to translate this at all) and have translated PS1 games before (like the excellent Tales Of Phantasia Playstation translation) to just translate the menus for Final Fantasy X-2 International +Last Mission or FFXII International Zodiac Job System? I think it's unfair that Square Enix named these games as "international" versions but the menus (probably more important than the voice overs) are exclusively in Japanese.

At least if they had the English option (like Final Fantasy X International had) most people would be able to understand it, even people who's native language is not English it's a pretty easy language to learn and understand in most cases, except for people from countries who use a different alphabet and numeric system (Asians, Arabs etc etc). Anyway I know a lot about the "physical" parts of computers the most (I built my own PC) but don't know much if at all about programming specially when it comes to translating games and such.

I'm not asking for someone to actually do this because of me asking for it alone, but I want to know if it's at least possible to just translate the menus, since the voice overs are still in English the subtitles don't matter at all. It would be awesome if some group could do it although I don't know what it takes to translate a PS2 game so please don't flame because I don't know. I know it's not as simple (I'm not it's simple AT ALL really) as translation SNES, GBA etc roms. The Tales Of Phantasia translation is the first Playstation translation I ever heard although I heard there were others I'm not sure really.

Anyway, if anybody knows anything please reply!

Even if you did translate the menus the extra content (+Last Mission) is still fully voiced and subbed in Japanese. There's no point in translating FFX-2 international if you're not gonna translate the +last mission because that was the only extra they added. Just play the NTSC-UC version. At least it's not *****ed up due to poor pal conversion.

Actually FFX2 International has a lot much stuff it isnt on the USA version, including a monster capture system, a monster arena, 2 new dresspheres, and a lot of monster collecting stuff (like each monster has its own story)
The fun part about FFX2 international, actually, is to be able to "use" (since they are automatic) the original cast of FFX back, even seymur

@ Kevassa:

That is why I want to play International, I beat the game 3 or 4 years ago (NA version) and it was great, but I also knew about the this version but back then I didn't have a modded PS2.

I'm about to buy a brand new pre-modded slim from someone so I wanted to play this, I don't care THAT much about Last mission but if someone DOES someday want to translate this it's up to him/them. Somebody else told me to learn a little bit of Japanese but I don't know, I'll have to try and see someday...I would kinda see myself as a nerd trying to learn a language I'll probably never use again just to play a game or 2 but oh well. The extras on X-2 are amazing, but the extras on XII almost make it a brand new game, even the fighting system itself is balanced to a way that has a lot of changes, the whole Zodiac Job system thing also sounds nice...guess I'll be stuck buying X international which has both languages and I'll play that and check the extra (mostly bosses) things on that one and beat the game for like the 5th time.

I don't know how comprehensive this is since I haven't played FF X-2 I & LM myself, but this FAQ seems to have translations for the menu and the items:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/918914/42512

If that doesn't work, then there are some more guides here that I'm too lazy to dig through at the moment:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/918914.html

As for FFXII International, try looking at this:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/939426/52032

To be honest though, you don't have to learn the entire Japanese language if you just want to be able to navigate menus and junk. If you can teach yourself how to recognize Kana and a handful of basic Kanji, then that's really all you should need for most JRPG menus, especially if it's a game that you're already somewhat familiar with.

Well I haven't been familiar with X-2 in 4 years or so but I still remember most things, and FFXII I personally never played it because when it came out I had sold my PS2 already so yeah.

Anyway, thanks a lot for those, I know I don't need the whole language but I'm going to have to sit next to the computer while sitting on the computer chair to play the game (it's too close to the TV) and look at the site at the same time to know what I'm doing unless I memorize some characters which will take time. Well, I'll see what happens when I get a premodded PS2.

That's what a laptop or PDA is for, so you can have the text file in portable format near your PS2...
