I've been meaning to do this for a long, long time, and I'm just getting around to it. We had them on the old phpBB before switching to SMF, but I got lazy and didn't re-implement them. Anyway, they're just the typical, non-intrusive Google ads as seen on the main site. I'm still experimenting with placements.
The good news is that they're not intended to be visible to those who are logged in. So I guess that's an additional perk for registering.
