Info!
Quote from: duckroll
- New classes: Doctor Magnus and Gunner. The Magnus is sounds like a combat mage, which has healing properties as well as offense boosts from studying the body. The Gunner can use various elemental bullets.
- There are now pets that follow and aid you in the adventure.
- Existing jobs will have brain new artwork.
- Battles will be much more visually exciting.
- FOEs will have new rules and new types.
- The director is Komori (the writer of EO1, Devil Summoner PS2 and Princess Crown), and she says they decided to make a sequel when they looked into the template and realized they could improve the balance of the calculations and skills, as well as brushing up the existing formula.
- There are two settings this time: the Sekaiju as well as the flying castle.
- You can create a total of 30 charcters this time.
- They have added a quicksave function for saving in the middle of dungeons. (YAY)
- For map creation, there are now 3 different colors you can use.
- There are also more icons and arrows to use.
- When buying equipment now, the character status is displayed so you can see how effective they are before buying. (YAY!)
- Game is 70% complete, release date will be announced soon.
- The character design, monster design and sound are handled by the same staff as the first game. (KOSHIRO COME TO ME!!!!!!!!!)

Oh god yes! Etrian Odyssey is my favorite DS game bar none. I was expecting a sequel and pondering when they were going to announce it just the other day and it just happens to be now!

I really hope Koshiro uses his retro FM synth again.

Atlus USA better not let me down!

Same for me, I was wondering when we'd get an announcement not too long ago.

Freaking awesome.

I really do hope Koshiro is on board too. And yeah, if this doesn't get translated....

... well, I'll just import. Tongue

Grrr, I still need the first one. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be sold out so soon after release Sad

(I made an order with Play-Asia a while back but I doubt they'll be able to fulfill it)

Hey guys, going by what I'm hearing, it looks like I should be sorry for not getting this game when it 1st came out. I found very few sites with info but it looked good, so can someone tell me about it a bit(story/how it plays/graphics/etc.), or maybe where i can find this info at(link)? Thanks in advance!

Etrian Odyssey is a "3D" Roguelike. The game takes place in a huge dungeon known as the Yggdrasil Labyrinth. The game is played in a First Person perspective in and out of battle. The game's battle system is turn based and very simple to use.

Simply put its an old-school game =)

You're able to create a party of 5 characters in different classes with different abilities.
The best part of the game though is that its hard. Particularly in the post-game events. If like grinding levels and character building then this is a game for you.

There should be lots more info on places like GameFAQs or the official website.

Nah, that's okay, if I can't get hold of a legit copy I'll just manage without it altogether, I'm not short on games to play right now anyway Wink

Thanks for the advice all the same.

Yeah I'm bumping this topic since I got the game. Though so far I've only completed the first mission

First off, the music style again uses the FM Synth. Next off you now start with every class except for Pets. Yes you get Ronin and Hexer at the start. There was really no good reason to wait such a long time to unlock them -_-

As far as classes though Landsknechts, Survivalists, Dark Hunters, Hexers and Protectors are no different.

Medics no longer have Immunize and ATK Up no longer raises their Attack stat to insane proportions. However to make up for it, there's special staves made for raising attack.

Alchemists get one new spell which is called Meteor which is a powerful non-elemental spell on one target.

The bards elemental protection songs now have songs which can affect FOEs on the field. They can make FOEs charge at you, or make them stop moving by putting them to sleep.

Ronin's probably have the biggest improvement. Stances are now Mastery. No more having to use a certain one to use a set of moves or wasting one turn. This alone is enough to make Axe wielding Landsknechts seem obsolete -_-

Gunners have a move similar to the Survivalists multihit except it does more damage since it does more hits however its accuracy isn't as good. They also get elemental shots and charge shots which lower the user's defense until the attack is used. They can also bind enemies and they too have an ability to make FOEs stop moving around.

Doctor Magnus seems to be mix of Medic, Bard and Dark Hunter. They can bind enemies, cast healing spells, cast buff spells. They work great with a Hexer and Dark Hunter since they have a powerful attack that only works if the enemy is asleep and a TP recovering move if the enemy is cursed.

I have yet to unlock the Pet class but they're apparently similar to Protectors.

The US version has been released, so did anyone get it?

I'm still waiting for my version, Play-Asia still hasn't accepted my payment though for some reason. I blame PayPal.
