Well, the 60 GB PS3 is getting a price drop to $499, while a 80 GB one is coming out with Motorstorm for $599.

Great move by Sony to help eliminate that "PS3 is $600" perception. </sarcasm>
Who wants to bet that they're phasing (or even liquidating the stock of) the 60gig, similarly how they dropped the $500 20gig PS3? Sony has made so many unbelievably bad decisions this generation, and that scenario would not surprise me in the least.
Not that $500 is that much better. The overpriced just got less overpriced.
$300 and
an appealing game lineup and future
or bust. Metal Gear and Final Fantasy aren't system sellers to me. White Knight is probably the most appealing game for me on the system, but that's only one so far.

I've read, however, that the new 80 GB model of the PS3 is actually going to have a very important feature removed. That being the chip that allows the US and Japanese consoles to play 98% (or so they claim) of PS2 games will be removed. In other words, Japan and the US are going to share the fate of Europe, having PS3s incapable of backwards compatability. A disappointing move disguised by what seemed to be a glimmer of hope coming from Sony. Oh well, I'm content with my Wii and I have plans to pick up a 360 at some point. This price drop really didn't do much to change my mind as a consumer. Without the software to support it, cheaper hardware is just cheaper hardware.
I'll be waiting for MGS4 to make it's way to the 360. I've no doubt in my mind that it'll happen. Sony has stated before that they don't offer developers money to stay console exclusive, so there's no reason that Kojima and Co. wouldn't want to put it out on the 360.

Are you kidding me? Ps2's *immense* library is about the best thing positive thing going for the ps3 at the moment.
They could recoup some money by selling off tapes of the internal decision-making discussions that Sony has been holding in the game department. Might be good for a laugh.. I'd buy it..
EDIT: Report says it will instead rely on software emulation instead of hardware.. we'll see how well *that* works...

Welcome to the suffering of the PAL regions. It was only a matter of time the same is done to the other regions.

Something like that gets closer and closer to happening:

Well... Microsoft's conference wasn't terribly great. It was more of a recap than anything else.
But Oh Ehm Gee aT
RESIDENT EVIL 5
!! We finally get something new since 2005. The whole thing totally gives off a Resident Evil 4 vibe, and you know I'm all over it like maggots on rotting food. This is the most important game for me this new generation.
Other things I like: Gears of War PC, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, and perhaps Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock.
The big disappiontment however, is no price drop announcement...

Sweet... more messed up villagers... looks kind of like Africa. And they STILL need to announce who the main character is...

Watching a live stream of the Nintendo press conference. Reggie just announced Super Smash Bros. Brawl is going to come out Dec. 3

Yeah, also they're making Mario Kart Wii with a steering wheel. Super Mario Galaxy is coming out on November 12th.

Overall I'd have to say I'm disappointed with Nintendo's E3 showing. There were no real surprise announcements. Matt on IGN said that they'd show a reworking of an old Nintendo franchise everyone thought was dead... but nothing was shown. Goes to destroy his credibility (that and his "ToS sequel for Wii".

Well, at the very least, E3 isn't over yet. Smash Bros. Brawl was shown a day or two after the press conference last year, IIRC.
Everyone's currently making fun of Matt over the Halo DS debacle though. Several weeks ago he said "Halo DS naysayers will be owned in a week", and of course it hasn't happened. Someone confronted him about it and then he said "owned after E3". Psh.
At any rate, I missed the Nintendo conference because it was too damn early. Mario Galaxy looks OMG awesome as usual. Can't wait for Prime 3 and Wii Fit could be a nice little distraction from the norm. Forever Blue (now "Endless Ocean") is confirmed for US and looks to be a very relaxing, atmospheric game.
On the other hand, I tuned into Sony's a half hour late. I missed the "new" PSP stuff... I might finally cave on one of those, the TV out sounds absolutely awesome. I was afraid playing PSP games on a TV officially would involve buying some future "PSP player" for the PS3. Thank god that isn't the case.
For the games, MGS4 looks fantastic. Killzone 2, as well (even though I'm still not sure it reaches that 2005 FMV trailer). KZ2 looks overwhelming for me though... way too much sensory input for me to follow. What happened to Eight Days and Lair?
Konami I guess is completely firm on their stance on keeping MGS4 exclusive to PS3... but will it simply turn into a timed exclusive?

why don't you watch it on gamespot. They have the conference up, unless you knew and watch it already?
Xbox360 - Looking forward to Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Trusty Bell(Eternal Sonata), Call of Duty 4
Wii - Man I was hoping they reveal the camlot rpg title but oh well, hopefully TGS they will tell us. As for the Mario Kart Wii I will gladly take any challenger once its out
not that I am good.
PS3 - Did they show any Enix FF game beside tactics? seriously disappointed.

As far as surprises go, this year's E3 has been pretty disappointing all around. Maybe it has something to do with the whole thing being different than previous years.
The game lineup though is pretty solid. Lots of good stuff on display.
I can't believe all the meltdowns over Wii Fit on other forums. It's pathetic. No one complains about the yearly sports shovelware that's sold like hotcakes for the last 15 years. I don't know why they give a crap about this one little title that differs from the norm.

Well, well, well...even faster than expected!
This failure is much deserved.

It still involves buying a cable which isn't include by default according to Sony's PSP-2000 press release (first footnote).
