As its legality is questionable I won't provide it directly Google for "scph1001.bin" or "scph7502.bin".

Obviously he's using a modified PS2 of a new enough model to be able to read DVD-RW discs.

It mainly depends of your PS2 version. I believe DVD-RW were not supported at all before V10 or V11.

But still, the PS2 dvd player sucks so much that you'll want to reconsider it before playing and DVD RW, as it WILL destroy your lens very quickly.

The type of disc isn't what matters. The difference in use of the laser is that movie discs read constantly, and the laser never really shuts off as all audio and video is streamed the entire time you watch the video. Game discs only read data as they need to, so once everything for an area is loaded, and the MIDI music starts playing, it shuts off the laser and stops reading the disc until more data is requested. The laser is only made to run for so many hours before it is expected to start burning out. Games may only use one hour of that time during every two hours of play, while movie discs will use nearly one hour every hour of play. All DVD discs read the same way, so there's no physical difference that would destroy the disc or the drive. The only difference is how often they are read.

So, are you saying that, DVD-RWs won't mess up the laser?

DVD-RW's don't work for game backups....If what your wanting to do is make illegal copies of games I mean. They work for media only.

Don't ask how I know this

bungiefan > I'm still saying that DVD-RW will destroy the PS2 lens quickier than a classic DVD-R (or even + R)

The PS2 lens is so weak that it doesn't support well things like DVD-RW, DVD9 or even DVD+R for older PS2 versions (like V4 or 5 and older)
Data on a DVD-RW is not burned very deeply and requires more strain from the lens, which is not exactly possible in the PS2 case. Also, a DVD9 needs the PS2 to change layers from times to times, which makes again some strain for the lens. I don't know however the problem with DVD+R, just that they weren't supported on early PS2 version.
