Horii recently said he chooses to make main Dragon Quest entries on the market leader's platform.

Connect the dots, and what's the hottest platform in Japan? Not Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, or even PS2... it's the Nintendo DS!

Dragon Quest IX is for DS! (Japanese)

Graphics/spec enthusiasts are furious, and I'm laughing at all of them.

Not a fan of the chubby 3-d characters myself, otherwise I'd say awesome. Though, DQ8 was most impressive, graphically and otherwise. Even so, I'll be getting it I'm sure, and I am really excited for the future as the DS starts coming into its own

Dragon Quest 9 features an action-oriented battle system playable cooperatively by up to four players via Wi-Fi.

Wow, this is awesome news.  The DS is a fantastic system, and I really look forward to seeing how DQIX will turn out on it.  I find it awesome that unlike Final Fantasy, which (for better or worse) focused on the visual appeal of their games as a major selling point, DQ is just doing their own thing.  And the fact that you'll be able to connect up with other players via WiFi is awesome.  In other news, I still have yet to beat DQVIII.  I should really do that...

And this is the best quote ever.  Period.

Square-Enix again showing Bandai Namco how big series should be handled on the DS. <_<

Which reminds me of another big series game in the works for DS. I'm impressed by how nice Final Fantasy XII Revanant Wings is looking and sounding. And that's not even a main entry.

God the DS has got to be the greatest handheld platform ever. I don't play it nearly enough.

I hope the cooperative mindset doesn't hamper the game for single-players

Yuji Horii did mention that there would still be a meaty single-player game. Personally, I'm VERY excited for this.. I am probably a MUCH bigger Dragon Quest fan than I am of Tales (sorry guys, DQ goes back to my childhood!) but I'm much more interested in action RPGs now than turn-based stuff and I love multi-player games.

Not to mention, the Dragon Quest coming out for Wii looks cool as hell too! Yay!
