What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.) Assume that the movie was directed by an awesome director, had a good script, good acting talent and a good budget. Also assume the movie was three hours long.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.

***EDIT***

Some new questions I thought of! Feel free to add these to your post if you want, and if you've already answered then just edit your post.

Have to keep things interesting.

What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.

What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.

What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.

Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?

This might be a harder one, and a bit off topic. Think of a video game that wasn't an RPG, but had blatant RPG elements. Like a leveling up system, an item upgrade system that progressed as you progressed with the story, ect. Now what is your favorite video game that wasn't an RPG, but had obvious RPG elements. (If you don't consider the Zelda series an RPG series, this would be a great place to put one of them.)

That's all for now, I might add some more later. I'll probably think of more as soon as I submit this post.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)
Super Mario RPG. Circa 2001. It took me a few tries to complete it, which is par for the course for me.

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)
I've only ever completed six, and I remember the order perfectly:

Super Mario RPG
Tales of Phantasia
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XII
Seiken Densetsu 3

I don't really feel qualified to rate an RPG I haven't actually completed, so my top five will have to be from this six, and here it is:

5) Seiken Densetsu 3
4) Final Fantasy XII
3) Final Fantasy X
2) Chrono Trigger
1) Tales of Phantasia

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)
Again, not exactly qualified. Final Fantasy is the only series where I've completed more than one game, and I can't really pick a favourite from a list of one. I'm hoping to play Tales of Vesperia and Final Fantasy XIII at some point, so maybe I can come up with an opinion at some point.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)
My answer should be obvious from the list I just made. Tales of Phantasia for the SNES, Final Fantasy X for the PS2. Never completed an RPG on any other console.

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)
None of the above. RPG storylines tend to be too big to make into a movie. Movies about RPGs should be spin-offs or side-stories. To tell the full story, you typically need a full-length series, which is what I always hoped to get for Tales of Phantasia.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?
I recorded well over 200 hours on Final Fantasy XII, which I played with the help of a walkthrough while my internet connection was out for two months. The majority of that was actually before I faced the final boss though, all of my characters were over level 90 by that point. He didn't stand a chance.

Tales of Phantasia was notably different in this respect. I managed to get all of my characters up to level 99 with all of the best weapons and armour, but that only took 45 hours. I think that bit about RPGs getting shorter is a load of nonsense really. I hate to think how much of my life will go into Final Fantasy XIII and Tales of Vesperia.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.
Final Fantasy XII disappointed somewhat after Final Fantasy X. Technically, the game was superb. The best action RPG battle system I've ever seen, smoother animation, better voice acting, and finally an adjustable camera (Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 really suffered for not having one, the latter especially). But the artistic style, soundtrack, plot, and (most importantly to me) characters all seemed rather lacking. The characters were actually better than in FFX, but I felt Vaan and Penelo were the weakest. Once I found that Basch was supposed to be the main character initially, but was replaced with Vaan because it was felt an older main character would negatively influence sales, I felt a bit betrayed really.

It's primarily that which makes me rate Final Fantasy XII below Final Fantasy X, despite several major improvements. Square Enix played it too safe with the plot and characters for my liking.

This will sound so stupid, but it is Sailor Moon RPG for SNES

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)
Seriously I cant make a 5 top favourite, just a top 3 in my case
1) Tales of Destiny Remake: Director´s Cut
2) Tales of Destiny 2
3) Tales of Hearts

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)
Tales series Cheesy

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)
Lesse, NES (Final Fantasy 3) , SNES (Chrono Trigger) , PSX (Tales of Phantasia PSX), PS2 (Tales of Destiny: Directors Cut), GBA (Fire Emblem 7), GBC (Pokemon: Crystal), DS (Tales of Hearts).

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)
I would say Xenogears, it felt like a movie itself, and the plot, with a few twists, can be very very deep on characters.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?
Around 360hs in Tales of the Abyss, blame the sidequests

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.
The biggest dissapointment... oh I have tons of dissapointments on games, but I guess my biggest dissapointment ever was Tales of Eternia.
The storyline, for me, was too predictable and the stuff that happened was JUST as I thought it would, Ive had a few surprises, but the whole plot really really was un-interesting to me. let alone the ending, which was extremely obvious.
The other dissapointment in the game is the fact only 4/6 (actually 5/7) characters are really part of the storyline, since Chat and Max are... just there.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)

Lunar: The Silver Star (Sega CD)

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)

(Only including one game per franchise on this list.)

1. Lunar: Eternal Blue (Sega CD)
2. Dragon Quest IV
3. Final Fantasy VI
4. Tales of Vesperia
5. Shining Force II
6. Breath of Fire III
7. Lufia II
8. Wild Arms
9. Paper Mario 2
10. Earthbound Zero

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)

Dragon Quest.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

NES - Dragon Quest IV
SNES - Final Fantasy VI
Genesis (Add-Ons Included) - Lunar: Eternal Blue
Playstation - Breath of Fire III
PS2 - Dragon Quest VIII
Gamecube - Paper Mario 2
Xbox 360 - Tales of Vesperia
Gameboy (Color Included) - Um...Dragon Quest I+II, I guess...
NDS - Dragon Quest IV (lol)

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)

None.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?

I think I once clocked 200 hours doing sidequests in a Dragon Quest game...

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.

Everything post-Midgar in Final Fantasy VII.

What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.

Final Fantasy II. I could never beaten that game.

What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.

I dunno. Something like Narnia, I guess.

What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.

Final Fantasy VII.

Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?

No. To me, Zelda falls under the "Adventure" genre, like Metroid and Bioshock.

Crackdown.  Cool

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)

Depending on whether or not it counts as an RPG, Zelda DX: Link's Awakening. If not, the Pokemon Red.

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)

Going by those that I have either finished or got close to finishing.

1. Persona 2: Innocent Sin
2. Final Fantasy IX
3. Tales of the Abyss
4. Persona 4
5. Final Fantasy IV

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)

Shin Megami Tensei and spin-offs.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

SNES: Chrono Trigger
GBC: Pokemon Gold
GBA: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
PSOne: Persona 2 Innocent Sin
PS2: Persona 4
PC: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2
NDS: Megaman Star Force Pegasus version

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)

None.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?

Uh... I think I had around 60/65 hours into Tales of the Abyss and Persona 4 when I finished them.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.

Final Fantasy VIII's junction system. I never seemed to get it to work like it said it should. And Sudeki for an overall disappointment in everything but the battle system for the close range characters.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)
- Final Fantasy II (SNES).

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)
- In no particular order...

a) Lufia II, if only for the amazing ending.
b) Seiken Densetsu 3, it's a shame this never got released here.
c) Final Fantasy VI, because Kefka is made of win and awesome.
d) Final Fantasy Adventure/Sword of Mana, there's just something about this game I love.
e) Tales of Legendia, the localization was amazingly well-done in this game, text-wise.

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)
- Tales, although the Mana series is a close second (before SE started dragging it's name in the mud).

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)
- SNES - Lufia II
GB - Final Fantasy Adventure
GBA - Sword of Mana
NDS - Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (mainly for the excellent writing/jokes)
PSX - Haven't played through all of my PSX RPG's enough to decide.
PS2 - Tales of Legendia
X360 - Tales of Vesperia (only RPG I have for it ATM)

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)
- Lufia II, just to see the ending. Preferable done in anime.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?
- Maybe 80 or 90 hours. I don't usually keep track.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.
- Magna Carta on the PS2. It was a sum of it's parts issue for me. Final Fantasy XII is a close second. It's one of the few FF I don't care much to complete right now, since it's basically FFXI single player.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)

Hmm... Pokemon Blue Version, probably. I remember thinking it was going to be an action game, as I had just watched the TV show before playing the game. Then I started playing it. I was a little surprised at first, but at the same time, so intrigued.

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)

1. Tales of Symphonia *dodges firing squad*
2. Golden Sun: The Lost Age
3. Pokemon Blue
4. Tales of Destiny Remake
5. Star Ocean: Till The End of Time

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)

Tales. Big surprise.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

SNES: Tales of Phantasia
PS: Final Fantasy VII (never got around to beating it, though...) (Soon to be Tales of Phantasia with translation patch)  Smiley
GC: Tales of Symphonia
PS2: Tales of Destiny Remake
Xbox 360: Tales of Vesperia
Wii: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (simply because it's the only Wii RPG I've played)
GB: Pokemon Blue
GBA: Golden Sun
NDS: Final Fantasy IV (come this summer, to be ToI with translation patch) Smiley

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)

Star Ocean: Till The End of Time or Tales of Symphonia.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?

GC ToS first playthrough took 80 hours. Adding in subsequent playthroughs and my playthroughs with the PlayStation 2 version would put me at probably 400 hours.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.
You'd expect probably something involving disappointing or sadly lacking gameplay or story, but here's something a little different.

Anyone who's seen my posts in the Dawn of the New World topic would know what I detest the most about the Symphonia sequel- the voice actor changes. Beating the original 12 times kind of beats the voices into your brain. People oftentimes say that you don't realize how great or important something is until it's gone- the original ToS actors apply pretty well to this. I loved Scott, Kari, Shiloh, the whole bunch. And when they're replaced by forgettable or even downright terrible stand-ins (Brian Beacock, I'm looking at you!)... well, your enjoyment gets hampered a great deal. I flinched each time one of the original character opened their mouth in the sequel (in Lloyd's case, I hit the mute button). The localization team kept saying they were trying to get the original voice actors back, as did the Japanese developers. Letters I got from the actors suggested otherwise, and many wanted to come back. Somehow I knew Namco would screw up, but I had this kind of absurd hope. I was pretty much setting myself up for disappointment, though a little insight on Namco's part wasn't too much to ask for.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)

Pokemon Red

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)

1 - Xenogears
2 - Etrian Odyssey 2
3 - Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together
4 - Tales of Phantasia
5 - Final Fantasy I

Some honorable mentions though are

6 - Disgaea 3
7 - Star Ocean 2
8 - Seiken Densetsu 3
9 - Utawarerumono
10 - Valkyrie Profile

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)

Probably Final Fantasy.. I don't really have a favorite series.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

NES - Final Fantasy I
SFC - Tricky... I'll have to say Tactics Ogre
N64 - Paper Mario
GCN - Skies of Arcadia Legends
Wii - Super Paper Mario
GB - Pokemon
GBA - Golden Sun The Lost Age
NDS - Etrian Odyssey 2
PS1 - Xenogears
PS2 - Hmm... probably Disgaea 2
PS3 - Disgaea 3
PSP - Jeanne d'Arc (Trying to avoid remakes and ports)
PC - Utawarerumono

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)

Probably Parasite Eve since it has the largest potential to become movie when you consider the themes and setting. Movies and cartoons based on other media is usually pretty bad though and I would rather that they didn't.

Quote
They actually made a Parasite Eve movie in 1997. It's based on the original novel, which would apparently make it a prequel to the video game.

Well fancy that. I guess you learn something new every day =/

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?

200 and so hours on Disgaea 2. I lost track of time recorded on Disgaea 3.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.

Star Ocean 3 =(

What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.

Playing through the 1st Etrian Odyssey is pretty damn tough without Immunize or Defender.

What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.

The Hyperion Omnibus

What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.

Actually the RPG I most anticipated for was Etrain Odyssey II. I loved the first game and hoped the second would live up to it. Which it did.

Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?

I always saw Zelda as an adventure game. Since you solve puzzles, explore large areas and dungeons, use special ways to defeat a boss (Well in the 3D ones).

Ganbare Goemon 3 (SNES) is quite similar to the Zelda games in formula. You need to upgrade weapons, solve puzzles, gain special abilities to go through certain dungeons.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)
1. Tales of Vesperia
2. Tales of Destiny (remake)
3. Ar Tonelico 2
4. Tales of the Abyss
5. Chrono Trigger

Honourable Mentions:
Tales of Rebirth
Secret of Mana
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Etrian Odyssey 2

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)
No need to say it.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)
GB: Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
SNES: Seiken Densetsu 3
N64: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
GC: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
NDS: Final Fantasy IV
PSX: Tales of Eternia
PS2: Tales of Destiny (remake)
Xbox360: Tales of Vesperia

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.)
Must it be a movie? In that context, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. ToD and ToV would make excellent anime material.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?
Unknown. Too many hours to count.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)
Final Fantasy 6 (bah the numbers always comfuse me; the one with espers and magikarmor)
Unless Zelda for the NES counts; if not Zelda 2?

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)
1.Tale of Vesperia (Xbox360] / Valyie Profile (PSX) / Valkyrie Profile 2
2.Final Fantasy X (PS2) / Final Fantasy 6 / Grandia
3.The World Ends With You (Nintendo DS) / Lunar Silver Story Complete (PSX)
4.Zelda (Link to the past [SNES]) -Alundra (PSX) / Terranigma (SNES)
5.Star Ocean 2 (PSX)
6.Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga (PS2)
7.Disgaea (PS2)
8.Shadow Hearts 2 (PS2)
9.Mario RPG (SNES)
10.Musashi (PSX)

Honorable mentions:
Seiken Desentu 3 (SNES)
Threads of Fate (PSX)
Alundra 2
Wild Arms series,
Bioshock  (PC)
The Magic of Scheherazade (HIGHLY UNDERATED action-rpg NES game)
and many more I can't remember.

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)
Lunar

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.) Assume that the movie was directed by an awesome director, had a good script, good acting talent and a good budget. Also assume the movie was three hours long.
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?
Disgaea (PSP) at alot of hours [gotta love being able to put your PSP in sleep-mode while in the Item world; I can't wait when Disgaea 2 gets to the PSP]

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.
Bad Story Plot: Legend of Legaia
Oh noe, oh no. Just worship the tree and we'll be fine. Loved the combat system in this game.

What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.
Final Fantasy 8; due to the whole dynamic monster level system. The Fire Emblem series is probably harder now that I think about it.

What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.
Hard question, you'd need a story that would allow the makers to make an OVA of the story; in order to make a fully interactable world; we don't want a linear plot and events.

What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.
Valkyrie Profile 2

Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?
Yes, the heart and magic system works like stats to which RPGs usually flow for.  And you could "level up/upgrade" your individual items via a questing system.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)
I actually don't know, I was to young, it was either Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI (called FF III at the time) or Super Mario RPG
What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)
Oh... crap, can I list them in no particular order? I can't put some above others... also bare in mind that I'm listing those that come to mind, this list might have been diferent had this been another day.

- Tales of Phantasia SNES (yes, I'm from the rare turd that still prefers the SNES version to the PSone/PSP one, blasphemy!)
- Chrono Trigger
- Chrono Cross (how a sequel should be made; as in: not relying on it's predecessor while kicking ass)
- Baten Kaitos 2: Beginning of the Wings and the Heir to the Gods (not the Baten Kaitos "Origins" greatest hits sounding name Namco got for US because it was too much of a mouthful to pronounce)
- Final Fantasy VI
- Final Fantasy IX
- Persona 2 IS/EP (let's consider both one game divided in two parts, shall we?) [I still haven't finished IS though, seeing it's only been out for a few months]
- Persona 3
- Persona 4
- Radiata Stories

As for honorable mentions:

Mother/Earthbound RPG's are freaking awesome I'm loving Mother 3 to bits and if I had finished it already, and let a few months pass just for it to sink down in my mind I think I'd have to list it - Shigesato Itoi I praise thee.

Dragon Quest - I didn't list any of them in the list mainly because I don't even know where to begin; it's not like FF where, take it or leave it I've played every game, so I don't want to list it before going through that, my experience right now is DQVIII and spin-off's, but I want to go over all the numbered ones. And Yuji Horii rocks.

Fire Emblems rock and the GBA ones are still walking with me on a regular basis on my DS.

Phantasy Star games, dammit Sega why stopping at number 5? had you gone ahead you could have a Final Fantasy competitor today.

Skies of Arcadia - Do I need to say more?

Valkyrie Profile 1 - That... had a soul; something VP2 lacked for me, despite the impressive graphics.

Paper Mario series - brilliant.

Super Mario RPG - awesome

Vagrant Story - do I need to say more?

Star Ocean 2

Xenogears - wish I had the space to put it on the top 10. Had it's ups and downs though (second cd...)

Xenosaga series - monolith... I love you guys.

Grandia 2 - Milena :3

Panzer Dragoon Saga - Hate to say it like this but... Gotta buy it one of these days; the price will hurt though. (only reason I didn't already)

Shin Megami Series in general - made of pure win

Golden Sun! - It's golden sun.

Lunar - I still remember playing it on the Sega CD (just remembered, Lunar: The Silver Stat might have been the first RPG I played, ever, even though I only finished it a bucketload of years afterwards)

Princess Crown/Odin Sphere - These guys rock

Zelda's - They're not RPG's but are still tied as my favorite franchise ever, and tbh, I don't really separate them, even though there's no level up and stuff.
What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)
Tales and Shin Megami Tensei, with a feeling that when I play more Dragon Quests it'll join the ranks as well.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

Super Nintendo:

Tricky, I have to invoke a tie between Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger and Tales of Phantasia

Mega Drive:

Them Lunars!

Brick Gameboy:

Pokémon Yellow.

Nintendo 64:

Zeld... Oh, Paper Mario.

PSone:

Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy IX, Persona 2's... Honorable mention to Tales of Eternia and Tales of Destiny, I had to mod my console all these years ago so it could play imports for them!

Dreamcast:

Skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2.

Gameboy Advance:

Golden Sun

Gamecube:

Baten Kaitos 2: Beginning of the Wings and the Heir to the Gods aka Baten Kaitos Origins. And Tales of Symphonia.

Playstation 2:

Ugh, had to get here... LOADS. ... Do I have to pick one? Dammit, the Persona's then. Honorable mention to Tales of the Abyss for being fun, though.

Nintendo DS:

- Ugh, I'm still only getting started when it comes to NDS RPG's seeing the avalanche that's coming right now... So far I really liked Luminous Arc 2.

Sony PSP:
- Hmmm... ... emulators and psone eboots, mostly. Bought Tales of Eternia and Valkyrie Profile who are ports, SO remake and FF7CC though, but I didn't really like the only original RPG of the pack. So let's say I'm waiting to try Jeanne D'arc or for Ushiro to come... or something.
If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.) Assume that the movie was directed by an awesome director, had a good script, good acting talent and a good budget. Also assume the movie was three hours long.
I can say with pride that... NONE!

I don't want any RPG to make the transition to movie, anime, whatever. Manga and/or Novel is alright though, if they make it cannon and fill some holes, but otherwise... no, just no, please. (and they can all make it to an Artbook, that I appreciate)

Mother/Earthbound could be funny enough though.
What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?
Hmmm... highest number I remember is 140 hours.
What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.
Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X, X-2, Star Ocean 3, Kingdom Hearts in general, FF7 Crisis Core.
What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.
early Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games and... Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2, these last two in particular are hellish hard, slow paced, unforgiving, monotonous and make me sleepy... but they're still hellish good games, shame I have to sleep 10 hours to play them while not going senile.
What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.
Hmmm... tricky one. I'll have to go with Seikai no Senki/Banner of the Stars.
What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.
Perhaps Tales of Symphonia, seeing I bought a Gamecube for it and was willing to play it in Japanese. Then again I completed Tales of Phantasia in Japanese before Dejap was done with it (I don't know how I did it to this day) and had modded my PSone just so I could run US games on it, because Namco Europe was already crappy as hell.
Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?
Not an RPG, no level up and such. But does it really matter? it's a great series nonetheless, and one RPG fans should enjoy... I know I do.

If anything I think a lot of RPG's want to be like Zelda these days (action RPG and stuff).
Yeah, Zelda, I've mined pretty much all the responses with it.

As for other example... Okami and Shenmue, clearly. (these two also kick ass, btw)

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)

Phantasy Star, Sega Master System.

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)

1 - Wild ARMs 3
2 - The Legend Of Dragoon
3 - Final Fantasy IX
4 - Final Fantasy VIII
5 - Tales of Destiny (both original and remake)
6 - Chrono Cross
7 - Persona 2: Innocent Sin
8 - Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria (I found the first one so terrible I had no hopes for this one. Turned out infinitely better than I expected.)
9 - Suikoden V
10 - Shadow Hearts

Honorable mentions:

- Wild ARMs 1, 2 and 5 (let's just forget 4 exists)

- Front Mission 3, 4 and 5: best strategy RPGs ever.

- Xenogears: no need to explain this one.

- Tales of Eternia: most fun I've ever had with an RPG.

- Atelier Iris: second most fun I've ever had with an RPG. Tongue

- Legend of Mana: third most fun I've ever had with an RPG. Tongue

- Suikoden I and II: two masterpieces. Enough said.

- Ys series: I find most games in this series fascinating, even though they're ridiculously simple.

- Breath of Fire III: so simple yet so beautiful. Love the atmosphere of this game's world.

- Rudra no Hihou: until I played this I thought SNES RPGs were just not my thing.

- Devil Summoner series: all of them. It seems to be the Megaten series of spinoffs that gives its creators the most room for creativity and I love that.

- Tengai Makyou Zero/Apocalypse/Namida: I'd kill to see translations of these games. Excellent soundtracks and loads of personality.

- Star Ocean 2: proof that a game doesn't need a killer story and a decent battle system to be good.

Oh god, I could go on for the rest of the day. Better stop here.

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)

Wild ARMs. (Tales series comes right after)

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

NES - uh... none I can think of, really. The First Final Fantasy would be my choice, but I played the PSX remake so I don't think it counts.

Master System - Phantasy Star

SNES - Rudra no Hihou

Mega Drive/Genesis - Phantasy Star IV

Saturn - Tengai Makyou: The Apocalypse IV

PSX - Legend of Dragoon. Then again, I love almost every RPG for that console.

N64 - none. Tongue

PS2 - Wild ARMs 3

Dreamcast and Gamecube - Skies of Arcadia/Legends

GBA - None I can think of

DS - Tales of Hearts

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.) Assume that the movie was directed by an awesome director, had a good script, good acting talent and a good budget. Also assume the movie was three hours long.

Front Mission 3. Any of them would do just fine, but I'd love to see 3 turned into a movie. With Hideo Kojima as director.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?

Can't say exactly, because the game clock in Wild ARMs 3 is broken. lol
But I guess it was around 90 hours.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.

Final Fantasy X. I gave up on being a fan of the series after that.
Breath of Fire IV, Suikoden III and the first Valkyrie Profile were pretty damn disappointing as well.

EDIT: WAIT WAIT WAIT how could I forget Digital Devil Saga 2? Way to ruin an otherwise excellent two-chapter RPG with ridiculously bad level designs, a crappy soundtrack and loads of filler bosses, Atlus.

What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.

Final Fantasy II. Christ, I had to go up and down the last dungeon a good 20 times >_>

What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.

No idea, really.

What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.

Can it be a fan translation? If so, Persona 2: IS.

If not... I guess Suikoden III. Turned out to be a COLOSSAL disappointment.

Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?

No, because they're far too "dynamic" to be considered traditional RPGs and way too focused on gameplay instead of story to be called action RPGs either. Something like that.

Nice question. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)
- Phantasy Star (SMS).

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)
- I honestly can't even narrow it down to 10, I love so many.

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)
- Fire Emblem or Shining Force (SRPG counts, so no whining... lol).

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)
- Another near-impossible question for me. I'll go with picking my favorite consoles for RPG's, which would be SNES, PS1, and PS2 (so many other good ones, but listing half the consoles in existance would be worthless for the question... lol).

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.) Assume that the movie was directed by an awesome director, had a good script, good acting talent and a good budget. Also assume the movie was three hours long.
- Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy Tactics.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?
- I've spent at least 400-500 total hours on Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Trigger, and (if you count it) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past. No idea which one has the most though.

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.
- Hard to say. I can't think of one at the moment, but rest assured there's been a few.

What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.
- My first run through 7th Saga. I know that's odd, since I've played harder ones, but something about losing a rune or two to one of the other characters just sort-of screwed me up. Not to mention that without level-grinding, the game is just hard like that... lol.

What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.
- Hard to say. I think the Chronicles of Amber (Roger Zelazny) would be a cool current-gen game. More than that, I'd like to see a newer and longer Shadowrun game, one based on the PaP game like the Sega Genesis version was.

What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.
- Hmm... I'm still waiting for a full translation of the SNES Fire Emblem games. Other than that... not sure.

Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?
- I consider it an Action RPG, because that's basically what it is... an "action-based role-playing game".

Think of a video game that wasn't an RPG, but had blatant RPG elements. Like a leveling up system, an item upgrade system that progressed as you progressed with the story, ect. Now what is your favorite video game that wasn't an RPG, but had obvious RPG elements.
- I guess I could put Shadowrun (Sega Genesis) here, since it has RPG elements, but it's hard to actually *classify* it as one.

What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? (There might be a difference!)

Ehhhhhmmmm. hm,mmmmmmmm. mmmmmmmmmmmm. I think pokemon red., but it could also be grandia 2. I dunno it'll be close.

What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? Top 10 if you're feeling sporty. (Feel free to list a few honorable mentions.)

1. Tales of the Abyss
2. K.O.T.O.R.
3. Tales of Symphonia
4. Grandia 2
5. Skies of Arcadia
6. Final fantasy 8
7. Final fantasy 9
8. Tales of phantasia (on GBA, so don't beat me up on the low placement)
9. Pokemon red
10. Vampire the masquerade bloodlines

And if we don't count Kotor and Vampire the masquerade bloodlines

1. Tales of the Abyss
2. Tales of Symphonia
3. Grandia 2
4. Skies of Arcadia
5. Final fantasy 8
6. Final fantasy 9
7. Tales of phantasia (on GBA, so don't beat me up on the low placement)
8. Pokemon red
9. Final fantasy X-II
10. Tales of Eternia

Honourable mentions:

K.O.T.O.R. 2.: Waiting for the team gizka patch. If it is good, it might surpass K.O.T.O.R. on my list

Super Mario RPG: Wasn't it just adorable.

Super paper mario: Wasn't it also adorable.

Jade empire: maybe not super, but I had fun

What is your favorite RPG series? (This is probably a given for most of us.)

Tales series. If ever a real single payer K.O.T.O.R. 3 comes out, and team gizka finishes the restoration project on K.O.T.O.R.2,  K.O.T.O.R.-series will be a solid second.

Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. (Includes PC and handhelds.)

gamecube: tales of symphonia

ps2: tales of the abyss

gameboy: pokemon red

snes: ff6

gba: tales of phantasia (not too big on golden sun)

PC: K.O.T.O.R.

Dreamcast: Grandia 2

PS1: Tales of Eternia

X360: Mass effect (only played two and I wasn't too big on Eternal Sonata)

NDS: Haven't played one yet. But as soon as throughim finishes the TOI translation and I finally bought chrono trigger, I can compare them.

If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? (If you want to list two, go ahead.) Assume that the movie was directed by an awesome director, had a good script, good acting talent and a good budget. Also assume the movie was three hours long.

K.O.T.O.R.-series. A chance for George Lucas to redeem himself.

What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it?

It think symphona, but it could also have been abyss

What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? Could be the game sucked, the end of the game was a let down, or it had some something in it that bummed you out for the worse.

Unlimited saga. I totally didn't get into it. Both story and gameplay were a total letdown. Though I didn't give it much of a chance I admit

What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Could be because of a certain boss, the difficulty of the dungeons, or maybe you just weren't good at video games at the time.

hmmmmm, probably a final fantasy, but nothing sticks out.

What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? Assume that it would be a good video game that didn't flop.

De leeuw van Vlaanderen
(the lion of flanders, it's about medievel times)

What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? If you can't remember one RPG you got more anticipated over more than the others, then just try your hardest.

KOTOR2, but if you count games I haven't played yet (and ám still waiting for): Tales of Vesperia....pleaaaasssseeee realeeeaassseee in Europe already!!

Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? Why or why not?

No, I consider it an action adveture with RPG elements. There are very crude RPG elements (leveling up by getting more hearts, and in Zelda2:adventure of link this is even more present), but it just feels more like tombraider then it feels like final fantasy to me. In hindsight, the term action adventure which became more popualr during the beginning of '3d' if i am not mistaken, is a very good label also for the top-down zelda games.

A link to the past SNES Cheesy
For me the ebst game EVER (yes better then orcarina). Also the only zelda to beat KOTOR, Abyss and Symponia for me.

1) What is the first RPG you ever played or the first you remember playing? - Either Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. I can't remember.

2) What are your top 5 all time favorite RPGs? - (unranked) Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, Xenogears, Shadow Hearts 2, Romancing Saga (PS2), and Final Fantasy 4.

3) What is your favorite RPG series? - I'd put Persona and Tales on the same level, but for different reasons.

4) Think of every console you've played an RPG/s on, now list what your favorite RPG is on each console. - Too complex a question, too tired to answer.

5) If you could have any one RPG setting/game/storyline made into a movie, what would it be? - Xenosaga as a series of OVAs that spans all three games.

6) What's the most time you've ever clocked in on an RPG once you were finally finished with it? - I have no idea.

7) What was the biggest disappointment you've ever faced when it came to an RPG? - Too many to list.

8) What is the hardest RPG you ever played? Final Fantasy 1. The computer is a cheating bastard.

9) What novel, series of novels or short stories would you like to see turned into an RPG? - I don't know.

10) What's the most anticipated you've ever been for a certain RPG? - Star Ocean 3. I lost sleep over it.

11) Do you consider the The Legend of Zelda series an RPG series? - No. All your character growth is item-based. You do not actually get stronger by killing enemies or completing quests (unless that quest gives you a strengthening item). Also, there are no stats in a traditional RPG sense. It's an action-adventure game that tries its damndest (and succeeds) to have an actual story.

12) What is your favorite video game that wasn't an RPG, but had obvious RPG elements? - Koei's Warriors series. I like most of them, to varying degrees.
