Sounds weird, doesn't it?  Well, let me put it this way...you haven't seen a US TV show adapted from a Japanese super hero TV series until you see a Japanese dub of a US TV show adapted from a Japanese super hero TV series.

Okay, it's Power Rangers in Japanese.  Let me make this clear.  I am not talking about Super Sentai.  I actually mean Power Rangers in Japanese.  If this was just some other US TV show being dubbed in Japanese, I wouldn't be making a topic about it.  But since this is Power Rangers, a US TV show adapted from the Japanese Super Sentai TV series, being dubbed in Japanese, I have to show it.

Yeah, I was one of those people who grew up watching Power Rangers but let's just get on with the show.

I'll start with the Japanese dub of the Power Rangers movie:
One entire scene, including fights.
The movie's morphin' sequence.

Oh yeah, pay attention to the videos.  You get to hear Cless Alvein as a Power Ranger (It's not Johnny Yong Bosch), Guy Cecil as a Power Ranger (It's not Johnny Yong Bosch...again) and you hear Regret/Legretta as the Yellow Ranger (but whatever).

Yeah, it's crazy, isn't it?  We hear Cless Alvein and Guy Cecil before their games (former maybe not so far off, since the movie was from 1995) and it's not even the guy who would later be their English voices in some way that get his voice dubbed over by them.  (I admit it, knowing this, I had to make the joke.  Oh yeah, and you get to hear Emil...oh wait!  There is no Japanese equivalent of his voice in the Power Ranger movie as a Power Ranger).

Okay, to end it, stuff from the actual TV show rather than the movie.  Yeah, the only way you'll know you're watching Power Rangers in Japanese rather than Zyuranger in the fight footage is by the music.

Yeah, a Japanese dub of a US TV show adapted from a Japanese super hero TV series.  Feels like bizarro world.  Either that or Bandai and Toei needed an excuse to resell Zyuranger toys in Japan.

What's next?  This bizarro world thing happens to Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight?

(Consider this my "something different" for the time being)

You want more bizarro worldness? The Japanese dub for Power Rangers In Space is more popular than the Super Sentai series it was based on.
