Miss the days of short and stubby character sprites in your RPGs?
Website:
http://dragon.sega.jp/
Screenshots:
Characters:
Fighter:
Healer:
Knight:
Mage:
Princess:
Rogue:
Samurai:
Producer: Rieko Kodama (Phantasy Star classic series, Skies of Arcadia)
Director: Kazuya Niinou (Etrian Odyssey 1)
Music: Yuzo Koshiro (Etrian Odyssey series)
I'm definitely down for more challenging, retro-flavored, gameplay-centric JRPGing. The Etrian Odyssey influence is pretty obvious, right down to the menu design, and cute character designs. But it makes sense with the people behind the game. This is a Sega game, so hopefully they'll bring it over, or grant Atlus a license.
I don't have much info on the game beyond that yet, though...

I'm interested in it. It definitely does look like its widely based of Etrian Odyssey.

This thread needs an update! While Etrian Odyssey was a revival of the Wizardry-style game, someone described this one as a revival of the Dragon Quest III formula. That one was always my favorite of the four NES DQs. Yes, I was a heretic that liked it more than IV. As much as I'd been looking forward to this already, that's boosted my interest in this considerably.
Artwork since OP:
Samurai class:

Movies:
Fighter battle movie
Mage battle movie
Walking around
"Introduction" video (with some silly-looking CG)
