I just replaced my 32 inch 720p TV with a brand new 46 inch 120Hz 1080p Samsung A650. 120Hz is absolutely amazing for games. It... makes games that run in 30FPS look like they run at 60FPS. RE4 at faux 60FPS = ROCK.

It's not entirely perfect (I frequently see "frame drops"), but I never expected this. SO AWESOME.

yeah, sometimes it gets choppy. Sadly, Tales of the Abyss seems to run in sub 30FPS everywhere out of battle (not just the world map), so this hardly works at all on it. There MAY be a very subtle enhancement on 60FPS material, but I can't say for sure. Seeing Symphonia's GC's world map run at faux-60FPS 75% of the time looks pretty neat.

I'm not entirely sure this 120hz mode was really designed for video games, as when I put the TV  on game mode, the 120Hz option is disabled.

On top of this kickass TV, I just received a PS3 MGS4 bundle today. Yay, I can play Disgaea 3! With that, I am completely platform agnostic this generation (necessary because this game generation is so damn WEIRD). PS3, 360, Wii, DS, PSP, and even a PC that can play modern games damn well (Core 2 Duo E8400, 8GB RAM, Two ATI Radeon HD 4850s in Crossfire).

Finally got the TV mounted, and the rest of the setup finished.

You are using the TV as a monitor too?
Coolness!

Yup. It's either a smallish TV and small desk for computer, or a big TV with everything connected to it. Grin

It's much better this way. PC games can be played on a huge screen and emulators are much better than real hardware for old systems IMO.

know what you mean. I always love hooking up my computer to my big screen and playing psx and snes games on it. The filters for graphics is what makes them worth while.

Also, I wish I saw this topic sooner or else I wouldn't have made another TV topic. Tried to delete it, and c/p my message onto here, but... yeah. :p

Heh.  Try playing Ikaruga off an actual Dreamcast, however.  With my friend's HDTV, it's almost impossible to play (one pixel off is the difference between safety and death).
Same with SSBM, though not as bad (yeah, there's SSBB, but there's parts of that game that just irks me).
Still cool, though.  My friend had originally been playing on a tiny old TV, and certain 360 games (especially Dead Rising) had such small, garbled text that it was illegible.  Now it looks real nice.
We got an HDTV as well, but my most powerful system (ATM) is just the Wii...
