Apparently Genis in my ToS games doesn't know Prism Sword (strike type move? :/) so I couldn't compare.

If it's the description of Prism Sword you want, here it is straight from the American version:

Light: holy prism swords blessed by light fall from the sky.

I was hoping for the Japanese description.  But still, based on that description, it's almost identical to the description for Prism Flasher...

It seriously just sounds like the same damn thing.

Maybe somebody can rip the descriptions for both from ND3 for comparison.

At this point I just feel like retconning the thing. I just don't like Prism Flasher.

Well, like I said before, Namco and the Tales team just randomly decided to rename all the spells and revamp the skill list for this game.

Kajitani-Eizan just told me Prism Flasher and Prism Sword have exactly the same damn description in ND3.

Not surprising really.  Sounds like if you don't really like the Prism Flasher name, going with Prism Sword as the name is probably the best choice, right?

Tokugi suck to translate.  I don't know what you want to do with Tokugi.  Special Skill?  Technique?  Art?  I'll leave it up to you.  I like the words Tokugi, Ougi, and Hi-Ougi myself, but those aren't really localized, so yeah...

魂に通ずるという「影」を貫く特技<END>
The soul communicates with the spirits of the 'other side'. Tokugi.

影に閃く神速の投剣を放つ特技。<LINE>
衝撃は背後の敵にも及ぶ<END>
A sword is thrown at godspeed towards the enemy. Tokugi.
It can reach the enemy in the rear.

^ I don't know what this attack does.  Eisenken.

自称華麗なる連続攻撃を行う特技<END>

^ Gah, this one is tough...  Karengeki

電撃の力を利用して敵を討つ特技<END>
Uses electrical energy to attack the enemy. Tokugi.

数多の敵を貫通する炎の閃光を生み出す<LINE>
特技<END>
Pierces through multiple enemies with a burst of flame.
Tokugi.

空中から高速の矢で敵を狙い打つ特技<END>
An arrow is fired at high speeds from the sky into an enemy. Tokugi.

This is the skill list on gfaqs.  I don't know how accurate or correct it is so take from it what you will.

I've decided to go with the recent official convention for the skill levels.

Artes: Basic, Arcane, Mystic.

Well, having those descriptions will help me out, but the descriptions themselves are of no use for the translation.  They're just descriptions of what the attacks do, and not translations of the attack descriptions.

Alrighty.  Base, Arcane, and Mystic.  I forget, what did they do with the Spells, were they broken down the same way?  Weren't there still Low, Mid, and High?  I don't have my copy of Abyss on hand or I would check myself.

I don't remember either...

I think Legendia called them Crystal Eres and they still used Base/Arcane on them? Or didn't they. My memory is failing hard. ugh. But Eres themselves are just a Legendia thing...

The Crystal Eres were the spells, and the Iron Eres were the skills.  They were still called Base and Arcane though.

I almost positive that the spells in Abyss were still Low, Mid, and High.

it's kinda odd, since shizel (from before ToD2) and genis/jade/whoever (from after ToD2) all have prism sword.

Quote
Restores life to one downed enemy during battle. Technique.

i think you meant one downed ally Tongue

also, some clarification on the terms:

昇華 - "sublimation"; this refers to extension spells. like, the magic is being converted from one phase to another, or something.
晶術 - "crystal artes"/shoujutsu; these were called "spells" in the US version of destiny.

Quote
The soul communicates with the spirits of the 'other side'. Special Skill (Tokugi).

that... sounds rather off. it should be something more like "A skill that pierces the shadow, which passes through the soul", or something like that. ... okay, that didn't really make sense, but i guess it should give you an idea as to what the translation should be.

Oh, whoops, I lied.  I do have my Abyss.  I thought I left it at school...

Okay.

Physical Attacks:
Base -> Arcane -> Mystic

Spells:
Novice -> Mid -> High -> Mystic

And then there are the special things like Hymns.  But I don't know if ToD2 has stuff like that.

Thanks for those two comments Kajitani, I knew that one was off, I'll take another look at it right now.
