Ok, now that you guys think I'm a retard, then what will it be? Swoon/Knock out is very direct, but would Stun or Daze do better? Since it's magic, would something like Magic stun work?

A year later, and it's time to continue. First, I'll begin by reposting what we went through on the first page. I just did some additional editing and came up with some new names for some of them. All good? Any fixes needed?

#WRITE(ptr, $B8A0C)

#WRITE(ptr, $B8A04)

No movement delay after spell invocation<LINE>

#WRITE(ptr, $B8A00)
// 100868
//硬直解除<END>
//Loosen Up<END>
//[lit. Rigor (see below) Release]
Unwind<END>

#WRITE(ptr, $B89FC)

//Evade all enemy attacks for about one second during the start up by holding <$09><$3D><$00><$00><$00>.<END>

Evade all attacks for one second at the<LINE>
start of spell invocation by holding <$09><$3D><$00><$00><$00>.<END>

#WRITE(ptr, $B89F8)
// 1008C0
//一定完全回避<END>
//Fixed Perfect Evasion<END>
//[Fixed as in, a fixed period of time.]
Perfect Dodge<END>

#WRITE(ptr, $B89EC)
// 1008E0

//15%回復。<END>
//Recover 15% SP for all allies besides oneself by holding <$09><$3D><$00><$00><$00>.<END>
Restores 15% SP to all allies except self<LINE>
by holding <$09><$3D><$00><$00><$00>.<END>

#WRITE(ptr, $B89E8)
// 100918
//SP分与<END>
SP Distribution<END>

EDIT: Made some additional changes to things above...

I'm considering changing the name of "ARMED" (ARMD) enchants to PASSIVE enchants for the translation. Seems a lot more intuitive?

but then it should be active enchant, not action.

... passion enchant?

terrible wordplay aside, is there a noun that conveys "passive" that can be used alongside "action enchant"?

Armed works pretty ok...?

to equip with what is needed for effective action

They're passive, yes. But you can think of it as you arm those enchants on you so they can protect you passively. Action probably is a corruption of active, but you can also think of the action in Action Enchant to be pressing O to chain. It just depends on how you want to read it (yeah, Action Enchants must be armed too, touche).

You can even wordplay this with the phrase "armed for action". How awesome is that?

Auto/automatic enchants? Not rly? No?

If they're passively affecting you, you don't need to do anything after equipping them, so automatic?

I don't know if my opinion counts for much... But I think that Auto Enchants is the best idea yet. While Armed for Action is a very clever idea, it's not clear enough on what it does.

I ama gainst automatic cause many effects dont always take in effect.. though automatic refers to action by itself but not necessarily always happening (though when you say automatic it gives the idea it will always work)

That aside, Action enchants SHOULD stay "action enchants", it gives full idea of the button pressing (please no "ButtonPressing Enchant" lol)

*looks up passive in dictionary for ideas*

Inaction Enchant?

—Synonyms 1. unmoving, immobile, inoperative. 1, 2. Inactive, dormant, inert, sluggish, torpid suggest lack of activity. Inactive indicates absence of action, indisposition to activity, or cessation of activity: an inactive compound, life, file of papers. Dormant suggests the quiescence or inactivity of that which sleeps but may be roused to action: a dormant volcano. Inert suggests the condition of dead matter, with no inherent power of motion or action; it may also mean unable to move, or heavy and hard to move: an inert mass; inert from hunger. Sluggish expresses slowness of natural activity or of that which does not move readily or vigorously: a sluggish stream, brain. Torpid suggests a state of suspended physical powers, a condition particularly of animals that hibernate: Snakes are torpid in cold weather. 3. lazy, idle, slothful.

I still think Passive is clearest.

I'm really not sure if I buy the theory that Action and Armed are connected in some subliminally punny way...

Just tossing in some random words:

Passive, Permanent, Constant (evt. go with Constant and Trigger Enchants), Auto, Automatic, Continual, Perpetual.

Highlighted what I feel is my personal "favorite" of my own quick list (could probably dig for more later, but gotta run now)

Well, it's a horrible thing to find a suitable alternative word/term for, really.

I've no problem with Action. Constant works but psychologically passive just sounds better to me...

Anyway, no comments on those four enchant names and descriptions? This thread won't be continuing until I get some. There's still a lot of enchant stuff left to review/translate/retranslate...

not to mention that basically every RPG since D&D 2nd edition has used the word "passive".

some feedback...

well, i'm not a fan of Deluge. whatever you had before there was more in line with ToA, too, i think (Heavy Spell?).

Unwind is good... if you want to stick with ToA names, a similar ability was called Spell End in ToA. not sure how i feel about that one, though.

for Perfect Dodge... Perfect Evade? Invulnerable?

SP Distribution is fine, though SP Share might be more colloquial. Also, change Restores 15% SP to Restore 15% SP, i'd say.

Armed enchant isn't bad (i tend to think of a missile being armed and ready to be fired at any time, just like the ability is ready to do stuff at any time). Passive is fine too, and is more clear and intuitive.
